I have panic attacks, so I do breathing exercises (relaxed / controlled breathing). I wore my mask for just over 1 hr. and had no problems at all

Ld1ncloud2 : Where are you wearing it this long? Don't do it if you can't breathe, please at least get some fresh oxygen here and there.

If you care about other people you will wear a mask. It is like when your mother told you to cover your mouth when you sneeze. Like when your friends or wife tell you to say it not spray it. Now if you are one of those people that doesn't cover your mouth when you sneeze or cares less about spraying people when you talk loud then you have no worries. Funny story I wore a mask in a store, a non mask person stood very close to me. I pulled down my mask and faced him and started breathing very heavily letting him feel my breath. He moved. I learned even non mask wearers don't want you breathing on them. Go figure. 🤷‍♂️

@tinytim : I think I understand your point. But, it makes me question social distancing needs. If the mask is so effective why do we need to stay 6 feet apart? And BTW, I practice both when indoors at public places. But not outdoors ******. Soon as I head for the car that POS is coming down.

@Ld1ncloud2 : I was out quite a bit on Friday in Lake Jackson and there were more non wearers than wearers. I had forgotten mask when I drove down but bought one of the kind that goes around your neck and you pull it up . It wasn't bad at all and when you want to breathe away from others you can quickly have it down and back up. I really do not think they are necessary but I'm trying for others.

@Ld1ncloud2 :
There's a type being sewn that has a boning insert, basically a cable tie that will pull the mask away from the nose and mouth and allow some breathing space. Kinda sticks out a few inches from face.
Maybe they could look into those for all the employees.

Masks keep a majority of your germs, to yourself. That's why they are standard in operating rooms for surgeons and nurses. If they didn't do SOMETHING, they wouldn't be required for that. As far as why masks AND social distancing, both together help to prevent the spread. An analogy--- a condom can help prevent contraception. A spermicide can help prevent contraception. Neither are 100%, but together they are more effective than either one alone.
Now, that being said, my biggest annoyance with them is they keep riding up into my eyes. With multi focal contacts, my eyes then tend to focus on the edge, and then I can't see anything.
Also, I have worn my mask while driving, BUT it was because I had just been in one place, I was going to a place across the street, and thought it was more effective to just leave it while I drove across the street,rather than remove it and replace it. It was from Murphy's to Aldi's.

Just being outside my house I do not wear it, but if I am going anywhere I wear it. Saw 2 people the other day washing their car in their driveway wearing the mask, but if they want to that is fine. I rather see more people wear them then see nobody wearing them.

I drive with my mask and here's why-
Mine is the contoured type fit and has to be tied on correctly. I do this at home so I can adjust it in front of mirror, making sure it is sealed around face correctly.
When we remove our masks we need to immediately wash hands and face.
So I wait until I get home to take it off. I do not want to touch it and fiddle with it while out, ...gross.....
If it bothers people in other cars to see me driving with mask on, I think that says more about them than it does about me....sorry to ruin their day!
BTW, the Dr. who comes on the ABC special every day at noon (always good info) said the virus remains on cloth masks for days. Wash after each use, so good to own more than one.

@WeveBecomeEastHouston :
Do you have a nose wire? It really helps with the fogging issue. Some of the sewn masks have a slot to add some type of wire to seal against the bridge of nose. If it gaps around the nose that air coming out fogs. I finally found the right wire to keep mine from fogging.
