Mockingbirds do NOT know when to shut up! After 3 years of interrupted sleep, we finally cut down the magnolia tree by our bedroom window.

I used to have some mockingbirds that got very chatty at night. Either they left or I just got used to it bc they don't bother me anymore.

@SnoopSister : We also had them for 3 yrs . All night long I'd get out of bed go into the back yard get the water hose & spray into the oak tree . Nothing got rid of them . Someone on here said they won't leave till they mate . So i guess they eventually mated . And I guess they must have spread the word mate else where because this woman will make your life miserable with her garden hose .

@bbk : ours mated and invited their kids back home. A baby fell out of the nest and they tried to kamikaze me.

One of the things I miss about not having a window in the bedroom is hearing the night sounds. (natural ones) Outside in the evenings is nice when my birds usually come to feed and talk up a storm....

@West-Tex : Probably. That's what I was told when I asked what kind of crazy bird chirps at night.

@West-Tex : If you can get a recording I might be able to ID for you. Mockers usually call in a series of three Same call repeated three times, pause, then three times Thats a pretty good clue.....

@Smokeybear : Ours change up the "tune" by a few notes almost exactly after a 3-time repetition. I like to sit outside and repeat back to them. It's like a real life version of Simon! 😀

@brightlights : Lmao!!! I do this too!! One day last week I kept hearing what I thought was a bird screaming in distress. Turns out it was a squirrel on my neighbors roof that evidently forgot what side of the house the tree was on and couldn't get down.
