i HATE THIS RULE.... it's now your problem unless you have a great neighbor that offers to own the mess!!

@tflea : Go help your neighbor clean up! If they are not home, then throw the branches back into their yard. I expected my neighbor to do this when part of my tree fell onto their playground and I didn't want to mess it up by removing it. It didn't even have an inch between the branch and the playground. I even offered to take all the branches away but they didn't mind cleaning it up. Now they are sad that they don't have a shade tree anymore.

If they do not offer to come take care of it, I would probably pick up and put over the fence into their property.

I agree with everyone saying to throw it back over the fence. That is totally what I would. Hell, if I had a chainsaw, I would do it for you.

@lynnsgirl : hence the "possibly". It depends. OP didn't state reason it fell.

Tell them you'd be happy to trim the tree but can't because you aren't an expert on trees and you don't want to accidentally kill it by trimming it wrong...

Maybe they will just come home and deal with it, or maybe they didn't see it yet and will do the same. Never know hopefully they will just pick it up, fix the fence and say thanks for letting us know too.

@tflea : the fence doesn't look damaged, start chunking his tree parts back to his side. They Will never notice, like a pound to an elephant.

SHE GOT MY NOTE & RANG THE DOOR BELL & WAS SO SORRY IT WAS A MESS IN OUR YARD . THEY ARE A DARLING LITTLE COUPLE THAT HAVE BEEN THERE i GUESS 3 MOS . SHE IS SO SWEET . SHE ASKED IF THEY SHOULD CALL THEIR INSURANCE & i SAID YES. THERE IS NO WAY OF KNOWING WHAT DAMAGE IT DID TO THEIR GARAGE ROOF . I ALSO THINK SHE SAID WATER WAS COMING INTO THE GARAGE SO SURE SOUNDS LIKE SOME DAMAGE .
