An older long time respected home inspector we use to use said never plant a tree any closer than 20 ft to your home or driveway .   I wish the HOAs would heed this advice.

@Luckysis : It's the builders that need to tell people not to do it . And they put in tiny front yards 2 oak trees . How many times have you seen it? It's constant & they suck up all the water from your grass . I've seen 60 by 120 lots that have all kinds of trees planted .

@BlessedMom : Yes. They were wonderful. And when they cut the neighbors, they ground the stump and removed the mulch and they even axed out a root for them. I'll pm their info. Bonded and insured

@hutch5801 : Well. Good to know. It was our neighbors tree, but we do have a magnolia that is now in full sun, so thank you for the positive note! ♥️

@bbk : Agree. My sister in law built last year innMagnolia, TX. Toll bro's home. They MADE them use the landscaping they want on all their lots. TWO pines about 2 feet from the house. My sister in law ripped them out and replaced w a shrub. Ridiculous.

@TheCatsMeow : Absolutely ridiculous !!! I had 2 crepe myrtles that I had planted that were very thick & beautiful on the right side of my house that I loved . They can't hurt us if they go down in a storm & completely shaded the west sun off our house . They are very messy while blooming so every day I cleaned up my neighbors driveway . My trees my mess so I always took care of it . On my driveway on the other side of the house my driveway my mess also even though I have no trees there at all . I spend several months out of the year blowing off leaves acorns & seed & pollen . They on the other side have an Oak & pine . That Oak & pine is no where near their patio area so it doesn't effect them . We had some friends that built a home on the point out here . At their last home they had their slab fixed 3 times . Finally the company said they had to tear out the trees because they are sucking all the water out of the soil & killing all the grass & causing the problem of the cracked slab .

What I forgot to say we cut the crepe Myrtles down because they were lifting the sidewalk on that side of the house .

@TheCatsMeow : I thought that you're supposed to leave a big mound of mulch because as the roots decompose it will leave a big sinkhole or dips in your lawn. We have taken out 7 big pine trees over 4 years and no dips in the lawn. You would be surprised how fast it sinks flat. (1-2 years). Not pretty but it's necessary
