It can be beat, just gotta get out of Humble. But in Humble, you're correct, either HCC or Saltgrass for a good CFS.

@WeveBecomeEastHouston : Is this the place in Aldine? I used to go when I lived there. The cfs meal reminds me of the kind I used to get in school. Not saying that's a bad thing, I loved school cafeteria cfs. 😂. But that's been nearly 15 years ago so maybe they've changed it.

@MrsT : Yes, it is on Aldine Westfield. I used to love going here for lunch when I was employed nearby. Really friendly people, great tasting food, and affordable.

I have great memories of doing road trips as a kid and stopping at hole-in-wall Greasy restaurants and finding GIANT hand battered CFS smoooooothered in gravy! Still today it is my favorite vice!

3 B's in KW isn't too bad, for something local.

@MrsT : I did too! Only other one I had was from Humble Inn and I thought I was in heaven because that thing was HUGE! Only ate half and saved the rest for leftovers.

@eighteen : I've been there too. It was about three years ago but they did have a gigantic CFS and CFC. Their burger was pretty good too!

Eighteens talking about Triggs (aka Humble Inn) by the PO, that closed down a cpl years ago. Always confused with Humble Café that's DT, both make/make a pretty mean CFS though. As Did Jackson Hole, across from Triggs, hasn't been there in umpteen yrs. but made a mean CFS.

@cador : Oh yeah, I'm thinking of Humble Cafe. It's in the old part of town and has a second floor that's roped off.

I've always loved Saltgrass CFS
Ate there last month. Small , soggy.
And a tiny plop of mashed potatoes.
Didn't complain at the time as it was a family celebration and didn't want to damper the occasion. Called the next day and basically said. " Sorry, not sorry"
