Talked to a nurse who says they are completely out of face masks and have been making some homemade ones. If anyone has any hoarded away I would suggest donating to nurses who are helping to beat this thing. I had a few bags collecting dust so I donated . Every little bit helps!
Joann's is precutting material For cotton masks and offering to public free of charge to be sewn for people in facilities. I think this is awesome! People are having trouble finding elastic now though as a result and are having to get creative By using pony tail holders/stretchy headbands.
We would like to donate. Also, my wife's coworker ... ironically he is Chinese!, has been hoarding masks for a few weeks. He has accumulated about 2,000! Wife has been pestering him to donate some of them and I think he finally will.
@CalTex : Are these N95 mask in the containers ? My daughter is an Rn & her daughter is & daughters husband is paramedic & they have no mask .
bbk : There are shortages at a lot of the medical facilities including local and the medical center. Reports have shown N95 masks are locked up and used with management approval. Bringing your own masks is not allowed due to infectious diseases. Imagine that!!
@hutch5801 : My daughter was suppose to go & buy one from a lady who is making them . I frankly doubt it will do much good . I think they give a false sense of security . When the medical world says you need this kind for this & that kind for that I think they know what they are talking about .
