Montgomery ISD is shutting down early as Spring Break starts next week. Rice is shutdown, probably through the end of term. It is SUSPECTED that an Humble ISD (Kingwood) teacher has been infected. However, I don't know what Humble ISD plans on doing moving forward.
They shouldn't shut down unless they have a case that was possibly infecting people. If not there really is no reason to. On a different note: NYC brought in the National Guard to New Rochelle where they have 108 cases. They have closed all their schools, the Guard will be delivering meals and cleaning the schools thoroughly so that they can return next week. I thought this is a great idea to do here while on Spring Break.
Harris county is preparing today to file an emergency health proclamation and certain state proclamations are coming through. Sounds to me like a necessary precedent is being set in order to do so.
They then need to get home school assignments ready and to the parents and parents need to start figuring out what the will do as far as child care, or switching shifts to ensure they don't lose paychecks.
If this does happen, and I wouldn't be surprised considering several major colleges around the country have officially closed for the school year, I wonder when the days will be made up? Will Summer be cancelled? This is really starting to get serious.
I know several people living in California, where their kids school districts have made the decision to close, and they are still several weeks away from when their Spring Breaks are scheduled.
My question is are they gonna put the city on lockdown like Italy? I don't want to but I already heard in the beginning of this be prepared for life's interruption. The mayor even mentioned how people travel to work from city to city. I hope not but it is something we should prepare for if they do close schools then get ready for public lockdown I guess. This is scary and crazy
