Is it too late to trim trees or the perfect time?
All these leaves I am collecting makes me want to do some serious trimming. My house stays cool in summer but cold in winter.

Winter is the time to trim trees as they are going dormant. Just finished having mine done.

@Smokeybear : Don't be sad over me cutting my trees down. I LOVE trees just not in my yard . During Alicia 3 massive trees destroyed the house we lived in . 2 HUGE OAKS & 1 HUGE PINE WENT through the house which was 2 story all the way to the slab & knocked the fence down in the back yard . Needless to say we all got out alive after the 1st tree came through the house .

@bbk : Every time I read this, I consider my trees especially when I looked out a few minutes ago and leaves were flying like snowflakes but I just can't cut them down.

Trees that are allowed to grow out of control become a hazard to life and property. Consider your neighbors. Typically property damage by trees in suburban neighborhoods is caused by hazardous out of control trees in your neighbor's yard. Now is time for fall and winter tree care. Spring is the second time they need attention. Make absolutely certain that whoever does tree grooming and trimming for you does NOT use climbing spikes to climb your valuable trees. This is a very unethical practice in the arborist industry but unfortunately all too common. I am a tree care professional offering arborist services in this area although I do not advertise on this site. Feel free to PM me for more information.

@BLAZE : The neighbors trees behind me scare me to death . He has 2 massive or very massive pine trees that I think could hit our home if they go down . Till my massive pine tree snapped & went through my home I really would have not thought that was possible . It 's not a pencil & I still puzzle over the fact that HUGE tree snapped & fell through our home .During hurricanes the wind blows on those trees pushing the branches towards us so if they come down I know which direction they will fall . Their roof is a huge mess with pine needles .

@bbk : perfect example of an irresponsible tree owner and neighbor. Document your concerns to them in writing.

@FNULNU1954 : I never even considered them dying, they are thriving. I'm just more knowledgeable about flower beds LOL! I only have a 35 ft Bradford Pear and a few smaller flowering trees in the back and a maybe about 35 ft Live Oak near the street.
