I always get their Alfredo and there is a ton of sauce on it. That's weird they charge for extra though.

@gigem09 :
Exactly what I get, just straight Alfredo, no Chicken/Shrimp. It's a good meal. I do know what great Italian food is, but do I expect "great" Italian from a neighborhood restaurant where I can get a meal and a few beers for under $20, nope, a lil smarter than that. But....always good and consistent food with good service where I never left hungry (probably been close to 1000 times if you count Roma's back in the day). I'll be back, prolly tomorrow night as we haven't been this week yet.

I called in & picked my up my lunch there today to go! The Cannelloni was amazing w/plenty of sauce but my salad was meh' & the garlic knots (I usually love) were warm but pre-wrapped in foil. I live 5 minutes away but they were also, meh. I've preordered before and they were perfect. Probably bc I waited until 2:45 to order lunch & I ate some pre-made? Atascocita location has always been close & my fav. go to for Italian. I did notice that the entrance area needs a special touch and overall ambiance without the tv's on would set a more inviting and relaxing environment. The food is amazing but next time I'll dine in & ignore the televisions enough to enjoy my dining experience. 😉

@ladybeachbum : I have given Carrabba's both terrible and fantastic reviews on Yelp... they are a very confused business... no one should be that inconsistent....

Unfortunately, I have been to the Carrabba's on Kirby, not the same owners... it is absolutely wonderful... food and service is always impeccable.. and their stuffed artichokes make it worth the drive from Kingwood downtown to Kirby.

@FenderBass : As an Italian kid who grew up around some of the most amazing Italian food and cooks just south of Chicago. I highly recommend the Italian sausage at Sprouts. I would never have expected it, but it's the best I've found. Central Market has the second best.

Growing up around an Italian kitchen spoiled me for most Italian food around here, my mom and wife cook together when my mom visits and the combination of my Italian roots and my wifes Mexican ones make for some amazing food! I can attest the the original Carrabas on Kirby is VERY good and the one around here is "OK". Italianos is decent, but I had a bad experience at the 1960 & 59 location that ruined it for me. I like the Atascocita one, and we've had great service, but we did a pick up order and my wife said her Lasagna had a natural gas flavor to it. I could smell it. I'm guessing the warming oven was the culprit.

For the meatballs, our familys secret was to lightly fry them on a pan (they have parmesan cheese in them to keep them moist) before putting them in the sauce for 6 hours.

Good God - are we really complaining about a restaurant charging for sauce? Italiano's is cheap. And most of their stuff is drowned in sauce. Want extra? Pay for it. Get a life..

@brightlights : It's an eternal battle..

Gramps is always near. Kind of like a grumpy Tooth Fairy who only pops up he reads a comment that makes him ill, like "Ugh, I can't believe I have to pay a dollar extra for sauce."

I have never been to Italiano's or many other places we discuss here.

No reason. Just never been.

....and we've lived in the area since 2004....
