Cop on 1960 going into the woods

I saw a cop stop a guy on foot and then the guy led him into the woods. What in the world? Across the road from the food truck area.

@carol888 : thats exactly where I'm talking about. I think Kingwood Glen houses back up to 1960 there's back fences with trees in front of them. So, maybe not the full blown woods.

@ladybeachbum : They do. Most on the street don't want to go to the shelters because they don't want to follow the shelter's rules.

Have y'all seen that campsite set up next to CVS in the little patch of woods there. I just noticed it a couple of weeks ago. My husband said it's been there a while. Not sure how I didn't notice it before!

@Metro07 : You kid, but that's an interesting point. I wonder if they're close enough to Target to pick up their signal. The same with the camps at CVS and Walmart/Sonic. I always assumed they squatted in those spots because they are all close to food sources and begging locations.

There was a time when 1960 west area Champions ,Raveneaux Country Club was a really big deal & then they started having high crime & it's not that desirable now . I don't like it that these folks are in the woods around us . Just because they don't want to follow the rules at a shelter is no reason to just let them stay in the woods surrounding us . What can they do to help their-selves get out of this situation just about nothing . If you can't take a bath get a haircut & wear clean clothes how are you getting a job ? Fast food places always have signs up needing people .

@bbk : The cops can't boot them off of private property without a complaint from property owners. I don't know who owns the strip by CVS, the same with the woods by Kingwood Glen. I think Walmart owns the strip by Sonic, so not sure why they don't boot them. If the property owners could be tracked down and notified, I'm sure they'd want them out of there. The other end of 1960 has gone to ****, high crime and drive by shootings in the news almost weekly. I don't want it to turn into that down here.
