I think my hospital bill would've been less than taking her to the Animal Hospital even without insurance! Also hated being trapped on a small patio with it. Usually, I'm in the woods camping and can give it wide berth or kill it!

What is it with the copperhead this year? I had one in the backyard , which got away before I could get him with the hoe - he didn't make it though neighbor got him the next day, or at least we think it was the same one. Neighbor down the street had baby copperhead killed 4. I don't know, can a copperhead make it up a tree, if you have one near the patio maybe that's how it made it up there. Glad your ok - I hate close encounters with snakes.

3rd floor - seems pretty out of place - maybe looking for a cool spot or water. or possibly carried up and dropped by a bird of prey (crow or hawk)

Out fishing I have seen a snake climb up a telephone pole (slick pole) to get to a woodpecker hole in order to get to the bird eggs in the hole in telephone pole approximately 20 feet up the pole.
Also, in our home a snake once climbed up the brick fireplace wall and down the inside of the fireplace and came into our home. Since then we have placed a cover on top of the fireplace (no more snakes), with a fireplace screen.
Always be on the look out snakes, even inside your home.
It's better to get bit by a large snake. A large snake eats daily, their months are cleaner than a small snake. A small snake is full of germs and you get a terrible infection. A bite by a small snake on a finger or toe usually results in amputation.

Ok can I say GROSSSS. Where can I buy a bubble to live in? Now I have to worry about them climbing in my fireplace. No, just NO! Rant over.....for now. Until the nightmares begin.

A friend of mine sent a picture of a LARGE snake climbing up the side of her house & said had I not seen it myself I wouldn't believe this picture I'm sending you would be real . She lives in the middle of 1200 acres & she guessed this snake to be about 7 ft long . She sees snakes almost every day where she lives . My uncle 2x in his life had a snake fall out of a huge Oak tree where he liked to park his truck in the shade ,&they fell on his head & shoulders . What are the chances of this happening 2 times ???I'd have died when the 1st snake landed on me of heart failure .

@MooMaw Oh I understand believe me I do we have had 3 snakes in our home ! I figure if that Wasp & hornet spray will kill bugs & humans it will also kill snakes . Almost all the Ac guys will tell you it is not uncommon to find a snake in your attic . My sister renting an apartment yrs ago kept driving her landlord insane because it stunk & she thought something died in the attic . He sent someone over who found nothing in the attic . She decided to clean the screen on her vent -a-hood over the stove . When she pulled the screen out a dead snake fell on her stove . I have come to the conclusion they can be anywhere .

It is common to find snakes in your yard when we are having a drought they come because we sprinkle our yards . Use to there would be an article warning people of this . And copperheads are the most common poison snake that I have read you'll find in your yard . I believe most cotton mouths don't go more than 1 mile from water & rattle snakes don't like people & pretty much stay in the woods out of homeowner yards .

Yes, snakes most definitely climb trees. That is a fact.

TimbersReason I made rhe comment, yesterday at lunch this was a topic and several people had seen copperheads this year all over this area. My goodness, nobody had them in the house and I have the creepy crawlers now thinking about snakes falling on my head...in fact I had to compose myself a little to type up this response..holy crap !
