Hope a Republican is the next President. Then there will be no excuses not to find and deport all those illegals. Why not use freight cars instead of airplanes for less expense.
Might be interesting also to see the effect of that.

The illegal problem in this country will get a lot worse before it gets better no matter who is president. The fact of the matter is big business of whom many tend to align with the Republican party is intoxicated by the cheap labor they provide. Both parties see the growing Hispanic population for example as key to future election victories and will therefore craft policies that will not alienate them.

Another group of illegals, which number in untold millions, and people rarely think about or even know about are those that arrived here on legitimate visas that have now expired and they simply never returned home. That population of illegals might even rival the numbers coming over the Southwest Border.

When it comes to illegal immigration we are schizophrenic. We want our immigration laws enforced while at the same time not separate children from parents, not let the cost of our goods and services rise, and most certainly do not deport the person that happens to tend to our gardens. He's one of the good ones.

I am not for tearing families apart either but I am seeing first hand many of these illegals and alot of green card holders committing more crimes than ever. There has got to be a time that enough is enough. I am tired of being told that one law can be enforced while lets ignore the other. This BS about alienation is pure crap as this is just another fabricated wording created by the liberal mass to justify breaking more laws.

The thing is in my opinion I don't think the liberal masses are the largest instigators or voice in this regard. Rather I think it is the captains of industry that are the greatest impediments to effective immigration enforcement. It's far easier for the news media to focus on street demonstrations about separation of families and so forth than it is to link some of our nations most successful companies to the problem.

You know as well as I do we live in a capitalistic society which means there's money to be made from cheap labor as I mentioned before. So in my opinion it's not that we can't enforce the immigration laws on the books, rather we won't enforce the law across the board because there's an economic benefit not to do so. (Edit) For example, how many individuals came here on work visas such as engineers whose visas have expired. Yet they continue to work for the company that initially sponsored them. The company profits from this arrangement while paying the illegal worker bargain basement wages.

I for one would have no problem with deportation for everyone that did not come to the U.S. legally. But ain't gonna happen in my lifetime or yours.

@rocket can you provide an example of what company is sponsoring illegal aliens? I would like to know. What I am seeing alot is foreign workers from india coming with work visas thus later adjusting status. I have no problem with this as they take the initiative to obtain this level. During the Bush years we attempted a process known as E-verify but States like California fought the implementation of this program. I know now it will be impossible to deport everyone but what I am worried is there will be resentment towards hispanics by everyone like what I saw when I lived in East Palo Alto

What I said was that workers such as engineers will enter the country legally. However for some when that visa has expired, they will continue to work for the company with the business having full knowledge of the change in status.

Following is examples of how companies game the immigration system -

And that is great they need to be dealt with immediately. I know Bill Gates has been lobbying congress heavily to increase the H1B visa for foreign workers claiming there is not enough skilled engineers but in reality he is avoiding paying a high salary knowing he can get an Indian engineer to work $40,000.00 a year. In reality my issue is not with these people but the illegals who come here and steal our resources reserved for us.

No need to worry, when the Republicans get in office, there will no longer be any excuse as to why we can't find all of them and have a mass deportation.
Although I would not hold my breath and I am sure they will come up with another excuse.

He doesn't need to "win" this...He wins by losing...They know he "tried", that's all that matters...The push-back is actually better for him as it increases the divide between the Republicans and The Hispanics and solidifies his party's hold on that exponentially growing demographic, which will be crucial in the future...

Your response exemplifies exactly what I have been saying on other threads. "He doesn't need to "win" this...He wins by losing...They know he "tried", that's all that matters". Anything to get him or the Dems elected. Doesn't matter that they don't get anything done. Doesn't matter that this major issue is still with us. Just matters that he tried. And, because he tried, I will vote for him. And, the stagnation continues.

Isn't anyone interested in finding people to elect that FIX the problems, not just try? I know what you are going to say - it is the Repubs that block everything. Yep. That is politics. No one gets to come in and put out their agenda and everyone bows to the leader. Our system is not set up that way. It is set up on compromise and finding middle ground to get things done. You come in with your agenda, find out who is with you and who is not, then start to work on those you need to win over. Then you "politic", you negotiate, talk, coerce, whatever to assemble enough votes to get your program through. Ted Kennedy was a master at this. He would work, negotiate, prod, threaten, whatever, to get people lined up behind his legislation. He got bi-partisan legislation passed. Reagan rallied the masses to such a point that no Congressperson who even thought of re-election would stand against him. He got bi-partisan legislation passed. That is politics. Obama just puts out a program, if it passes, great, if not, it is because the Repubs stalled it. Nothing gets done. And the stagnation continues. The only time that the Dems got anything done was when they had a Democratic Congress to support Obama. And that was taken away by the voters. Twice. First in the House, then in the Senate. Which should mean that the VOTERS, the most powerful people in the land, were not completely enamored with the Democratic agenda. Yet, most votes were right along party lines - no compromise, no negotiation. Just puppets who are owned by their political parties, voting right along the line. So now we have to wait until we get a Democratic Congress again to get anything done?

The Dems win and the stagnation continues.God save America! I am not sure that anyone else can!
