Church Search

So my family & I have recently been searching for a new church. Our pastor from the church we went to in the woodlands went on hiatus while looking for a new church space & a new space was never found. Then the non-denominational church we were going to in Kingwood started referring to Jesus as Yahweh, incorporating Hebrew much more heavily into services, & getting in touch with Hebrew roots; which is fine & all, it's just not for us. I was raised catholic & DH was raised southern baptist, so we're just looking for a common ground of a non-denominational church in the area. Children's ministry (elementary age) is very important to us as well. Looking for something in the Atascocita/ Kingwood/ Humble area. Somewhere that focuses on the message rather than bells and whistles (as was our experience with fellowship of the woodlands IN the woodlands.) Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You are in a bind LOL. When I was married to my first wife she too was also Baptist and knowing I was Catholic she attended some mass although not all. We took turns attending each other masses form the different churches. What I did not like was people from her church trying to force me to convert to their religion. I am just grateful my second wife is a Catholic girl although I consider her family the South/Hill Country Texans to be hardcore Catholics.

We love our Humble Area's First Baptist and we love our pastor. It's kinda big but if you get involved in a life group or volunteer in different activities you'll eventually meet and know many people. They offer a LOT for children. Every so often the pastor and his family host a dinner for new comers where he'll get to meet you personally and know you better.

Yesterday was a grand finale musical.

You might consider a Methodist church. It's a fairly common saying among many Methodists that Catholic + Baptist = Methodist.

not a fan of organized religions. too many people pursuing their own interests, can't trust them. I've heard thru the grapevine some seriously crazy stuff going on at summer creek baptist these days. I say that's just typical. Probably in most churches in the area to one degree or another.

And don't get me started on the catholic church. yeesh.

We go to Atascocita United Methodist Church. We were drawn to the church because of the involvement in local area ministries. With all kinds of opportunities. Either giving time or working behind the scenes - you choose. AND the youth participation in the church. It is such a blessing to see children growing up connected to God and giving their time and energy to helping others. There are 3 services, an 8:30 traditional, as well as 11:00 traditional and contemporary services.

I think that this is an awesome thread and I hope you find a church home Heathur. You may have to try a few to find your fit but in my humble opinion... they are each a place to worship and Praise God, no matter where. I personally like Atascocita Community Church.

Seems there's a church on every corner these days, and in every school too lol. If you don't like one flavor, why not try another? Or heck, just start your own as that seems to be all the rage these days. Call it This Is My Church Community Church. Can't be any worse than any others.

@LivingLife Wow, 3 posts in one thread actively trying to discourage people from worshipping.

You must be one miserable soul. I'll pray for you in church. Emoticon

@brightlights I'm not pushing people away from God, just the churches run by people. Most of the people going to church are just going for cultural/societal reasons anyway.
