Can you say what issues specifically or not?
Like he is highly allergic to peanuts & they keep sitting him next to all the kids eating peanut butter sandwiches.

I don't have a child with allergies, but I do know that the schools have a designated food allergy table so that they aren't sitting next to the allergen offenders.

Yes, peanut, tree nut allergy. Last year teacher fed him something that may contain peanuts twice. Once while in kindergarten he vomited while at lunch, a teacher that nobody has been able to identify walked him to the nurse left him there. The nurse said she never seen him and when she looked at the sign in sheet the name was not there, I asked how did she expect a kindergarten student to sign them selves in. My son said he still had vomit in his mouth and the nurse told him to finish vomiting in her bathroom. He walked out and she was gone, he then walked back to lunch by himself. No phone call. Again talked the the school. Was supposedly taken care of. Through out all of this the principal has never talked to me. I have only dealt with the assistant. I tried to suggest adding some peanut free food to some of the events that we have at the school because the PTA can not tell me what is in there baked goods. Was told I could do this so children would not feel left out....offered to do everything myself. Once all was done I was basically told no and when I talked to the PTA they had no idea what I was even doing.....sorry of this sounds vague. Not trying to completely blast the school on public. Just trying to get some advice.

Yes. He has his epi pens in the nurses office. All of the staff is supposed to be trained to use them and know how to recognize anaphalaxis. I do not think the staff is properly trained. He was supposed to attend jumpstart during the summer. First day rolls around and then I am told there will not be a nurse on campus, but you can show one of the teachers how to use the epi pen. This is after they told me the complete staff is trained. When he was signed up for jumpstart I was told there would be a nurse on campus. Then there wasnt.

@leslienjt
Are you in Humble ISD? My DD's elementary has always been on the ball with food allergies; I've been a room-mother for several years and have become well-aquainted with the kids and their food allergies and food sensitivities. You should definitely go to the district with your concerns, since the school isn't responding. I always assumed the food rules were district-wide. I know with our class parties, the school always provides treats that are bought at the store, so a label is always available for parental review.

Yeah we are in Humble isd in the Atascocita area. I've tried to become a room mom but they do not have them at this school. Our class parties do require store bought, but as far as any events....festivals etc. That is not the requirment. I'm not trying to be that mom to say ban nuts for everyone. My entire point is wanting to bring awareness and have options for children that do have allergies.....so when they go up and see all the cool looking treats to buy at said events , there is an option for them also. I made flyers and a sign and it was put on the floor, when I walked inside my flyers had stuff thrown on them. It was pretty sad because the counsler who is supposed to be an advocate for the allergies was sitting right in front of them. My poster board I made was pushed closed and turned into a tripping hazard. I'm just at my witts end. I feel as if it's not there child they do not care. I will be contacting the district Mon....just not sure where to start yet.
