Exactly. I get a letter for 3 blades of grass being too long essentially but a house on my street had their mailbox laying in a pile of rubble on the ground for almost a year is ok?

Thank you for your replies. I agree there is politics in everything, however that is no excuse the rules apply to all or not at all. Also cam are just as ignorant. So I say to both of them that I am well within my legal rights to not adhere to there complaints until such time the rules are applied to all and not a few.

@Jlamkin :Did you make sure that was in the contract you signed at the time you purchased your house agreeing to comply with the deed restrictions? I only ask because when you stick to your guns and refuse to comply / pay enforcement fines, eventually resulting in foreclosure proceedings - you may need to make sure you have a valid legal argument.

Agree with @redneck roy They will fine you for not compliance.

I would question if boat neighbor is being honest, or of he was fudging a bit because of the awkwardness of having a neighbor come up and ask him about it. There's no way for you to know for certain.

@Jlamkin :And while busy chasing down all these small infractions they forgot about the explosion of rent houses that have taken hold of the area. Something that will drive down the property values If not gotten under control.

CAM once told me that they only go after infractions that are turned into them from other neighbors. I bet someone called about your dog fence.

@Jlamkin YES, it happens in the Oaks also. WASTE of time/$$$$$! How about the wasted PAPER it costs for them to send you a letter & now they TAKE PICTURES of it???

YES, agreed with the comment about the neighbors, we have a huge complainer on our street that likes to call in & complain on others here in the Oaks, funny thing is she JUST moved here months ago & we have all been here 26 years. So, imagine having to deal with a newbie coming in & thinking she now "owns" the place?

I just want to throw this out there as a funny (annoying) story...I have a neighbor that doesn't care what HOA says to him...he hates them...he ALWAYS out of line...car parked for 2 yrs in driveway not working...John Boat on side of house (in front of fence not in back yard)...decided to put up a comical (tacky) character mailbox ...he completely disregards every letter...I once asked how he got away w/ all this...He does get letters...He has an attorney that he pays just to send them letters in response...He never said what they say but, for 10 years now they have never been able to enforce anything b/c he ties them up in paperwork and threatened ligation...and if they don't follow the procedure to the letter...there goes another letter...I honestly think they have just given up...Then they sell the HOA to another company and his infractions start all over again...This irritates everybody...not only is he a annoying jerk but, he makes us deal w/ his crap...(He has actually threatened to sue a neighbor for slander b/c they told a story about something he did years ago)...Just a true BUTT!!...w/ saying that, he probably is on this stie and will PM me that I have a lawsuit coming my way for telling this story...I agree that you probably have a big tattle tale on your block...But, in defensive of the boat owner...did you ask him if he uses it for fishing/boating every couple of days? Why isn't it in garage or storage?...I believe it only can be in same spot for 48 hours...We use our boat for fishing 3 or 4 times a wk when my husband is home ...We would wake up, launch the boat in morning, fish all day and when we returned, we would park it in the same spot in front of our house (not to block anybody)...however; we had a tattle tale in our street that didn't realize that the boat had moved...but, it was just parked back in same spot...That really got old...so then every other day (when it's not at storage) we park it in front of the neighbors house ...yes the tattle tale neighbor...(on public street legally) ...that really made them angry...so she will quit turning us in to HOA.... lol...karma

More than likely the ones reporting are your neighbors! Not someone 1 block over who could care less about a boat in the driveway. If they can not see it everyday then that is not their problem. I live at the corner of a cul-de-sac. I have to have my grass mowed weekly for curb appeal. Oh and we have to edge! We will get served a nice little letter if we fail in this tedious task. They could care less about the ones they can not see well from the main road!(Unless their neighbors complain)Just my opinion!
