I only barked because I was lonely: Life of an abandoned dog
It's just a photo. Seven black industrial-sized trash bags on a shelter floor, kennel doors open, but there are no dogs.
"I died today, " the post reads. "You got tired of me and took me to the shelter."
It's just a photo, but it's quickly spreading like wildfire on Facebook.
"They were overcrowded and I drew an unlucky number."
Michelle Boggs' words cut like glass to the thousands of people who read them.
"Would I still be at home if I hadn’t chewed your shoe? I didn’t know what it was, but it was leather, and it was on the floor."
The words leap off the screen, narrated as one of the puppies in those black plastic bags. Just one of thousands.
"Would I still be at home if I hadn’t barked? I was only saying, “I’m scared, I’m lonely, I’m here, I’m here! I want to be your best friend.”
More than three million dogs and cats are euthanized each year for just existing.
"Would I still be at home if I hadn’t brought fleas into the house? Without anti-flea medicine, I couldn’t get them off of me after you left me in the yard for days."
That single post has gathered more than 16,000 shares -- but it's just a photo.
"I died today. Love, Your Puppy"
