Children's vitamins?
Pediatrician said my daughter needs to switch to a multivitamin with iron. She is use to gummy vitamins but they don't have iron. I tried Target brand children's chewable ones but she thinks they are gross. I have to agree, I tried one and it had a nasty aftertaste.
What vitamins do your kids like?

@nanuq+tikismom That is funny since my DS just recently told me the same thing about the Target vitamins. We'll be looking for gummies I'm sure when this bottle is done. Of course it has like 200!

I saw vitamins in powder form you just mix in food. Might give that a try.

Plain old flintstones vitamins with iron. I've heard they don't put iron in the gummies because kids will eat to many and can get sick with iron in them.

Make sure, too, that any iron containing supplement isn't taken with anything food or supplement high in calcium. Calcium inhibits iron absorption.

That won't be hard, my daughter hates milk. I have a hard time getting calcium rich foods in her

@nanuq+tikismom There are quite a few non-dairy foods that are high in calcium as well, though, most kids probably wouldn't like those foods anyhow.

Iron should be taken with Vit. C. I drink a large glass of OJ . Iron does/can cause constipation.

She does like strawberries, beans and broccoli. Which are good sources.

My doctor says they are expensive pee so we don't do vitamins. We do vegetables and fruit though. Chocolate pudding helps with calcium if you have a non milk drinker.

@Cabin_Mama
Her pediatrician recommended it because I have a hard time getting her to eat protein like chicken and beef.

She is a super picky eater.

We have similar issues and I keep an eye out to be sure she is getting adequate protein. My daughter likes refried beans, hardboiled eggs, cashews, sunflower seeds, and Morningstar Farms "chikn" nuggets. She will also eat ground beef and oddly - boneless pork chops. So basically no bones, veins, skin, cartilage, etc. She also really likes Sugar Snap peas which have 2 grams of protein per cup.

I really like advise I read once that said - give up on balanced meals, give up on balanced days - go for a balanced week. I don't have any say over what she is given half of her time, on our days we make sure she has a fruit and veggies, whole grains and eats protein at one meal each day.

Oh and CAULIFLOWER of all things - super high in protein and she really likes it - again it appeals to picky eaters because it's smooth, uniform in feel and color etc.

If you give her iron and she isn't eating the veggies (fiber) to go with it, she will not poo and will have an upset stomach and eat less. So if you could see if she would eat like Bran Chex or cinnamon life - a high iron/high fiber cereal instead.
