News Story Here
Excerpts:
"Tony Gwynn died at the age of 54 in 2014 after a 4-year battle with mouth cancer—specifically of the salivary gland on the right side of his face."
"The lawsuit states that he had been consuming 1 and a half, to 2 tins of tobacco per day for more than 30 years. The National Institutes of Health estimate it’s equivalent to smoking 4-5 packs of cigarettes per day."
"In 1991, following a surgery to remove a benign neck tumor, Gwynn got out to his car and “immediately reached for his can of Skoal.” That same year, he would go on to be a National League All-Star, and win a Golden Glove."

I have to sound off on this one, especially as a former smoker...
30 years?!? Equivalent of 4-5 packs of cigarettes per day?!? Got a tumor in 1991 and STILL didn't take the health seriously?!?
Sorry, this one's on YOU buddy...I was a pack-a-day smoker for years, occasionaly climbing to a pack-and-a-half if I was having a libation or 12...No way I could ever do 2 packs in one day...And to do 4 or 5 a day for over 30 years? Then claim you were a victim? Classless, IMO...YOU and ONLY YOU abused your body to that point...I would have never even considered blaming anyone else for that which was caused by my vice...And when I say YOU, I'm talking about the family too since they brought the suit...
OK...Now I feel a bit better...
