I was a patient at Kingwood Hospital. My mother was a RN at a hospital in Baytown. I'm farmilar with hospitals.

In my opinion Kingwood Hospital is one step above a animal hospital, in a discuss with a doctor who used to have privileges at Kingwood Hospital, he corrected me and said (it's only a half step above an animal hospital).

On a Thursday morning my Urologist released me at 9 am, I need to have a release from the doctor who admitted me, this doctor worked full time in KW hospital, in the hospital the entire time but did not sign me out until shortly after 3 pm.

Guess what I was billed for another day in KW hospital. I was then told by my Urologist that KW hospital said I had a "bad attitude", and that I was not welcome back to KW hospital.

My bill was completely wrong, I was billed for around the clock intensive care, physical therapy, this never happened. I had an IV which came out at 12 midnight, it took 3 hours to connect the IV back in. My bill was over $29,000.00, no surgery, just observation for kidney stones. Since found out that KW hospital is a "for profit" hospital. Worse three days of my life!

Do not never go to Kingwood Hospital, go to a veterinarian hospital.

My mil was taken there for a leg infection when she was at Rosemont. They tried to take her gall bladder out. We literally kidnapped her and took her some place else

I had my babies down in Houston, it never even occurred to me to go to Kingwood.
If there is something wrong with your kid go to Texas Childrens, if you have major trauma you want Ben Taub (yes, they are the public hospital and yes the lobby is full of homeless etc. but trust me - when it comes to ER trauma this is where you want to go)

Best high level walk in is the one by Culvers - super expensive for simple things like stitches or a sore throat but if you have a true emergency they are set up to do it all - IV's ex-ray, pain block injections, etc.

I would not recommend either hospital, personal reason for both.
Kingwood or MNW

I know this topic gets brought up every now and then, the majority of us have had bad experiences. I have had 2 procedures there that went off ok but hubs had one that did not go so well.
We will not go back if we have a choice.

If you guys need an ER close by, I highly recommend the one in Summerwood behind the CVS. I think it is also Herman Memorial. That is where we go and the people are great, short wait time. Kind of a hidden gem.

I was admitted to Northeast for an asthma attack. They bleached the floors outside my room and about killed me. (My asthma is triggered by bleach, ammonia, cat pee, that whole family of chemicals)

My wife had our first child at Kingwood. We loved everything about working with them. We would for sure go back if we had another.

Sorry to hear so many other negative reviews. That's gotta suck.
I'll have to do some research if we ever need some other procedures done down the road.

I just think that if you are going to put up with all the big city woes of Houston you might as well enjoy the benefits too. We have world class health care at the medical center - why not use it?
