I think the Republican Party as we know it is officially dead. The party has been in a crisis for at least the last 8 years. It's hard to believe that having 4 years to prepare for the November election, the GOP paraded almost 20 candidates, of which, in my opinion only a handful were presidential material and electable.
Yes, electability is a major concern for a conservative-leaning candidate, given were our country stands. Divisive rhetoric is not going to get anyone elected with the current composition of voters (where the majority is not going to be the majority much longer).
The math wasn't just working for Cruz... and Trump, in my opinion, is not electable, as he has alienated women and Hispanics.
The GOP has a huge challenge in the next 5+ months, which is to unite under a candidate that, in my opinion, does not represent what the party stood for... although that doesn't matter because like I said earlier, the GOP is dead.
I like to hear Trump's plan for making America great again... Is that plan going to include Hispanics? If so, he has a long way to win them back. Is he going to propose a conservative plan? How are jobs going to be generated? Is he going for Keynesian or Supply-Side economics or what? Given that he has been a successful businessman I would think he'll like to run government as if it was a business, which may not work at all.
