His little belly is now full of peanut butter, birdseed and a chocolate chip.....and the traps never sprung. The one he is nibbling on had p.b. and birdseed. He came back later for the other one.

@Sammee What is with all the rats around this area. We had them so bad at the old house I thought it was because the took down the woods behind our house. We live in Walden now and there is a rat situation there also. We put out poison and traps etc. cant get rid of them...

Neighbors feeding pets outside attracts mice and rats. We had a short problem in our garage. We took a gummy bear covered lightly with peanut butter and caught the rat. They can't get the candy off trap so easily and need to work harder to lick the small amount of PB. Works like a charm. Haven't seen any since.

Do you have a lot of birdseed around? If so that is a huge attractor for mice. We keep ours in the fridge.

When we had an invasion of long tails, I found they really like dog food. I invested in the very hard plastic containers and that cured the problem after dilligently keeping the rat traps with food. There's also the thought that if you see one, there's an entire family you don't see. They love chocolate candy or at least mine did. That one will come back tonight because he liked what you had on the menu last night. I can't see which trap you have but the ones at Lowe's seemed to do the trick here. I can remember hearing the trap snap and smiling. I have no heart when it comes to those creatures.

Yes the gator traps from lowes worked for us. The rats were running the fence line. I don't know if they'd dare come across my yard with my pups out there. Possum learned the hard way it's not a good idea. They really like peanut butter too. I haven't seen any in a while since the neighbors that kept their trash cans out back moved.
