Someday I'm going to retire and live in a town so small that there is so little traffic that all they need is one stop sign in the middle of town. Just sayin

Me too - hopefully. Darrington, WA, pop. 1347 at the end of the 2010 census. One stop light last I was there. Nestled in the Boulder River Wilderness, between White Chuck and Whitehorse Mountains, adjacent to the Sauk River, and at the northern terminus of the Mountain Loop Highway. Thinking about this pains me to look out the window at downtown Houston.

It is funny in my late teens I couldn't wait to get out of my one stop sign, blinking light little town.
I think someone stole the stop sign.

@MooMaw That's how my town was too. No traffic lights at all just 4 way stop signs. Emoticon

Yeah when I was younger I had to live in the middle of the city and go to all the "cool" places. Now I just love being at home.

Shiner, TX is a lot like that. There is one light, and instead of stop signs most roads have yield signs. And they have the brewery, or course. : )

I lived in big cities all my life and although I stayed in small towns for a short time for job purposes I always wanted to live in a small community setting away from the big city. I am seeing more people are moving to Texas and what was once small towns are now grown so I might have to think of other options.

Today we picked berries at the farm. Then drove to another to pick up meat.

Not a small town, simple life.

@bap I grew up in a little pink house in a pretty small town. We had lights but going across town meant maybe a mile or so. The drag was around the center of the town. I wasn't supposed to be on it but was every night. It was simple back then. I only had my Daddy to worry about! Not coming home at curfew meant he was out looking.

@bap Everyone knew everyone so you couldn't get away with anything. Even having fun you might get your daddy called. I got a ticket and it was in the newspaper but he didn't read it but someone called him. It was good I was a good kid or I'd be in trouble. Let's don't bring up that dang porch light!
