Bicyclist Struck/Killed On 1960
Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 10900 East FM 1960 about 5:15 a.m. on Saturday (1/30/16).

The male victim, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer D. Rodriguez reported:

The driver of a white Nissan Frontier was traveling eastbound on an FM 1960 bridge when the victim, a bicyclist, made an apparent unsafe left turn and was struck by the pickup truck. The victim died at the scene. The driver of the pickup, who showed no signs of intoxication, was questioned and released at the scene.

I feel for the truck driver. This will be tough on him.
WLHP and 1960 are two roads in this area it is just a dumb idea to cycle on.
5:15 am, the sun is not even close to being up yet.

If you do have to cycle on these roads, I hope you have a good lighting kit on your bike as well as really good reflective gear to wear.

ADC's article does not mention Huffman but the other one does.

@blueyes :

What I posted is their exact report on it. I asked the same question, and he said that it happened on a bridge.

@AtascocitaDotCom article I read a couple days ago (not sure - but I think it was KHOU) specifically mentioned the McKay Bridge - along with photo of bike & vehicle involved.

The article also suggested cyclist was making a dangerous turn across traffic lanes; but I am not sure what the determination was for that - I would be curious to know .....

I really wish we had rails and a sidewalk On that bridge, like the one going to Kingwood.

If I may ask a question please...Saturday on WLHP I came upon a cyclist in the road and could not move over to the other lane. I just stayed far behind and people were going around me and I finally moved to the right lane when opened. But I thought to myself...what if I was not looking? This person was right in my lane and there would have been nothing I could have done.. What are the rules for the cyclist and the driver????
Is he supposed to have been in the road? I know there are some cyclists on here so guide me please.
