Woodlands Hills Dr Project Underway

Commissioner Jack Morman has started phase one of construction on the Woodland Hills Drive project. The $1.1 million improvement includes the addition of a two- lane concrete section to the existing roadway resulting in a complete four-lane boulevard from Beltway 8 to near Ridge Creek Elementary.

“This portion of the two-phased project is expected to be complete in the second quarter of 2017,” said Commissioner Morman.

Phase two of the project includes the construction of a new four-lane concrete boulevard from Ridge Creek Elementary heading north to the Atascocita Forest subdivision, as well as the construction of a four-lane bridge over Williams Gully. Currently estimated at $9.5 million, the joint effort between Harris County Precincts 2 and 4 is expected to be complete and open to the Beltway in the fourth quarter of 2017.

@Currygang :

Yes, sort of. It has to do with the installation and connection of the fiberoptic cables to traffic lights so they can be synced. When they are synced (or timed), vehicles don't sit idling at the light as often. Less time spent idling at a red light translates to less pollution going into the air.

Connecting Woodland Hills over the San Jac, thru to Kingwood would be a huge traffic relief to WLH. I know it is planned, but like most projects in Harris County...10 years behind.
