So sorry but we are seldom ready unless we know they are in pain . Hospice was wonderful & helped us go through this process with our mother so let these folks help you & we will pray for your family .

I'm so sorry. I arranged hospice care for both of my parents and was with both to the end here. It was the hardest, saddest and also most gratifying thing I've ever done. I know they passed without pain, safe at home with loved ones around. No more needles, tubes or endless exams. Time to hold her, laugh, cry and know that what you give your mom is little compared to what she will be giving you. I had time to tell them everything I ever wanted to say. I'm so thankful for that. There is no easy way to let go of someone we've loved so dearly. I'm here for you if there is anything I can do to help you.

@DaycaremomI was busy all weekend with setting up hospice for my mom. In a way, it's a relief. We expect my mom will not live beyond 6 months. She has lost so much weight and has muscle atrophy, lots of stiffness. One leg is bent at the knee and she can't straighten, the other is stuck in the straight position. She is getting a geri chair so that she can get out of bed for a few hours a day.
We chose Silverado after receiving a couple of recommendations. They were quick. We signed all the papers on Saturday. A hospital bed was delivered Sunday before she was transported from the hospital. They arranged everything. A social worker called me this morning. She will help with funeral arrangements.

You are definitely in my prayers and hope your mom goes through as little pain as possible. I know they will give her all the comfort possible. My mom died a little over a year ago, so I know how hard it is to deal with knowing that it is near the end. Bless you and be strong.

We were not able to use hospice when my husband passed. Methodist Hospital did not have it on the weekends. But the doctors & nurses did what they could to make him comfortable. Thankfully he didn't linger long. We had time to say goodbye, Our daughter, his parents, my parents all spent time with him. I will always be thankful for those times we were able to say goodbye & that I was with him at the end. Just spend as much time with your mom and remember the good times. Praying for you during this difficult time.
