For a man as arrogant as Obama who had the media lapping at his heels for the last 6 years.....this has to be a kick in his gut.......

I hope republicans grow some balls and put an end to this dictatorship that he has tried to run...I really didn't like Clinton but I at least respected him for his ability to compromise with republicans..........

President Barack Obama's anticipated order that would shield millions of immigrants now living illegally in the U.S. from deportation is not without precedent.

Two of the last three Republican presidents — Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush — did the same thing in extending amnesty to family members who were not covered by the last major overhaul of immigration law in 1986.

Such a "hot topic" and the media choses to ignore a Presidential speech about it, regardless of the length?...I seriously doubt it...

MD not going to do a political back and forth. But I would suggest you take another look at the Constitution. You frequently site violations of said document that's just not accurate.

Unprecedented. Most agree, even many many Democrats. It will be struck down eventually, along with his health care catastrophe, but so much damage will have been done.

Oh really Rocket.....
Then why over the last 6 years...from 2008 to as late as 2013 has Obama went on TV and say I as a president don't have the authority to grant amnesty through executive action....MULTIPLE times on video...easily available on you tube if you care to search.......I have seen at least 8 videos of him giving speeches on this subject saying he is not a monarch and cannot do this....
So why now? Possibly cuz he is still butt hurt over the election drubbing his party took......

Is there anything that you hold this President accountable for? Do you really want this type of govt where ONE man can arbitrarily change laws for MILLIONS of people? IS this what you want?
Do you understand the concept of SEPERATION OF POWERS?

If you want to read the constitution again I am sure you can find a copy of that document under Obamas feet..........

I honestly don't understand people like you.......If you are supporting THIS president strictly because he is black and you are black, don't be scared and just come out and say it.......I would at least respect you for that.....That's the only conclusion I have about you because this president has done nothing wrong in your eyes.....
from the VA, Benghazi, IRS, NSA, Obamacare, Amnesty, IRAN, ISIS, Gitmo prisoners, ETC.......

Seriously...what is your love affair about?

@Undecided:

Your citation clearly explains the difference in the situation. You do see that, don't you?

Nevertheless, after lots of reading I firmly believe that the President has the authority to grant this amnesty as a matter of prosecutorial discretion. But, it needs to be limited in scope......better not be any entitlements, citizenships, Work visas limited to the balance of his term, etc. If the EO stays within the framework, it's prolly ok. Easily undone in two years if the voters desire.

Now,my question is this. Mr. President, @rocket, Undecided, et al, how does this action benefit 300 million citizens of the USA? And if any here can answer that question with cognitive discourse, I'd appreciate a response that includes the price for this grandstanding action. And please factor in that the next Congress won't give an extra dime to fund this.

Our immigration system needs work for sure. I've had personal interactions with employees who grew up in this country, graduated HS with honors, attended college, etc.......all while lacking a valid SS card. But our system of government doesn't allow for a narcissistic,would be monarch to unilaterally fix it in His and his camp followers image.

Any responses are appreciated. It's a good subject for honest debate.

****edit****I didn't address Art 2 of the Constitution because I don't believe the Pres will venture into the permanent pardon empowered there. Whatever else he may be, he isn't stupid. Or, he could prove me wrong and seriously over reach.......we'll see.

it doesn't Clyde.....but this man is not concerned about U.S. citizens.......

Everyone laughed at Dzousas movie Obamas America 2016, seeing it as republican fodder.....
I dare anyone to dispute anything in that movie as untrue....We are seeing it play out before our eyes and we are 2 years away from 2016....

This is going to seriously effect all the middle class blue collar workers being pushed out of their jobs by the illegals.

I wonder who is going to pay for Obamacare for all the illegals? Hmmmm could it be you and me? Probably! What about all the welfare they will be getting?

Nice of Obama to invite all these illegals here to make more Democrats.

@Clydepuckett:

In regards to your first statement, I have tried to point out here that Constitutionally the President does indeed have the authority to act as he did. Apparently people don't think he has attorneys on staff to make sure he stays within bounds. In doing so all I have received in return is the rhetoric of several people here that simply refuse to believe it. I do find it interesting however that when you pointed out the same thing you didn't receive blowback.

Secondly, I have said many, many, many, many, many, many, many, did I say many? Many times on this board that I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE PRESIDENT'S IMMIGRATION POLICY.

However, according to MD, since I may have black skin, that renders me incapable of having the same sophisticated mind as his.

^^^That is not what Mac said...and I assume you are talking about the other post...But there are several of the left on this forum, that cannot seem to read things in the context of which they are written. They go right to something, and then twist to fit whatever argument they want to have.

Nice work as usual Clydepuckett.

It is my opinion this President in his ignorance or arrogant ideology, will miss a great opportunity at redemption. This immigration issue, with real work and compromise, would garner support of most dems and republicans. It would pass next year with the President able to claim victory.

In lieu of that scenario, he will seek to divide the parties even further, divide citizens further and create a Constitutional crisis that will likely leave everyone battered and bruised.

In thinking about rockets comments about LBJ .... He worked and the 64 civil rights law, with overwhelming republican support, and passing the law in spite of his own party. Clinton passed welfare reform with overwhelming republican support and is credited with the victory. Reagan worked with his dem congress to pass his...you get the idea....too bad the President doesn't.

@Fairlane67:

The third paragraph to my response was dripping with sarcasm. That said I don't understand why MD felt the need to bring what he thinks my race might be into the equation at all.

That's akin to me saying due to the fact MD is white is the reason why he disagrees with nearly everything the President does. Makes about as much sense as the other way around don't you think?
