Why does KHOU keep saying two teens shot and one may loose her arm with such sympathy. It happened due to their actions. They also have not shown their pictures. Why?
I here it's because they are black and they don't want another Ferguson.
Do you believe that?
If that were to happen, how do you think we would respond?

I wish the media wouldn't give these thugs airtime over and over.

@daisy girl:

Emoticon Where did you hear that?

But I seriously doubt that. Maybe they didn't have any id's and they are unconscious?

I read the assumption on another thread on another site and it got me thinking.
If it were guys their pictures would be splattered on the news. They would have a detailed description. Not so here.
As I said I stand with the home owner. I'm sick and tired of good hard working people being victims and the sympathy the media throws at the bad guys/girls.
And trust me that was not their first door they knocked on. They were casing that street. Pretty freakn bold to smash the front door side window in the middle of the day.

Remember "innocent until proven guilty"? No pictures or names should be released in order to protect the rights of the victims.

Let's be patient and not jump to conclusions... I am sure there is a logical explanation for their actions, like maybe one of them needed to use the bathroom with urgency, that's why they stole the vehicle and broke into a house, with a very clean bathroom 'cuz they were in fear of catching ebola.

Ask yourselves, what would Jesus do? Let's show the world that Atascocita is the compassionate community we all know we are.

Lol love the sarcasm. If they were close enough for him to see the whites of their eyes, they were too close. Let's face it you have to be pretty damn close for a good shotgun blast.
I have no compassion for these girls. I'm not sorry for that. Imagine if they went to work that day, cleaned their home, went to a movie, they wouldn't be in the whirlpool of s*** they are in.

My heart, compassion and blessings for all the people they traumatized yesterday. That's a long list. No room for them.

Innocent until proven guilty is fine when your not caught red handed as these two. And their still gonna cost us as we support them for the rest of their lives.

I feel bad for them. I think it is sad when a young person wastes their life with stupid crap. Although KHOU is just reporting a story - I don't know if they actually have played the perp sympathy card here. As they definitely have in other cases.

I really feel for the home-owner - I didn't feel comfortable in my own home for a while after it was burglarized. I can't imagine how uncomfortable I would feel after shooting people coming through my front door. And then having to clean up the mess / repair the drywall damage & whatever else.

Damn shame his shot weren't a little better and this could have been over. Tax dollars to be spent and probably law-suits pending; let alone permanent social security payments due to permanent disabilities & millions of tax payer dollars spent on medical care (socialized medicine for criminals) and rehab.

I was wondering about the social security stuff too. Thought it would be ridiculous if you qualify for benefits if disabled in the act of committing a crime. Hopefully this page I found is correct.

www.disabilitysecrets.com/get-disability-if-felony.html

Eligibility for Felons

The general rule is that a felony conviction has no impact on eligibility for Social Security or SSI benefits. There are a few exceptions to this rule. You are not eligible for Social Security disability benefits (SSDI) if:
•your disability arose (or was made worse) while you were committing a felony
•your disability arose (or was made worse) while you were imprisoned in a jail, prison, or correctional facility for a felony conviction, or
•you made yourself a widow or an orphan by killing your spouse or parent (this applies to Social Security survivors benefits).

yes they wasted their own lives. But they ruined many. I grew up on a hard knocks road. An old friend asked me, what happened to my ba**s?
I told her I still have them. I keep them in my left pocket and only bring them out when I need too.

I played hard and I pushed boundaries but I did know right from wrong.
And I never hurt anyone else.
My grandfather told me when I was five ( he ran back to lock the door) when I asked why. It's not to keep bad people out, it keeps honest people honest.
Even at 5 and a smartarse child I replied. An honest person wouldn't know if it was locked or not. They wouldn't just walk in.
These girls broke windows.

I walked in on two guys and they finished wiping me out. Clothes dishes everything. I took a solid door off the hinges with one, trapped one in. He had a choice. Try and get past me in a rage with a broken wine jug and a pair of scissors or jump out the second story window. He took the window when I ran at him swinging my arms.
By the time the cops got there and my biker friends his pal drug him off. My boyfriend showed up with a truck and moved me out.
I really could not stay there. I lived alone and was 21.
Things change people and they don't ho back.

I really hope they do not try to charge or sue this man. In fact I hope they throw the book at them. And everyone sues them.

I don't think KHOU not showing a picture of the girls has anything to do with race or Ferguson. Among many there appears to be that presumption when people of color, especially black people, are alleged to have committed a crime. In my opinion some of the restraint comes from the Richard Jewell case, a white man.

Jewell was a security guard when a bomb went off in Centennial Olympic Park during the 1996 games in Atlanta. The FBI publicly named him the prime suspect and there was a news media frenzy. Later when the allegations proved to be untrue there were a lot of faces with egg on them. By then Jewell's reputation had been dragged through the mud. Jewell sued and was paid a king's ransom.

Every since them most of the media refer to some individuals as persons of interest. Of course the news cameras sometimes catch the alleged perps when they are arrested. But in a lot of cases the media waits until a person is formally charged before releasing their names.

As for the seemingly sympathy view, I agree with Roy in that it is a said thing when a young person basically throws their life away. Much like the girls in Kingwood some years ago that were committing robberies. Stupid behavior is not limited to the so-called "usual suspects".

@macdaddy:

The first paragraph was in reference as to why the faces of the girls might not have been released. I went on to an example of the Richard Jewell case in keeping with the point I was making.

Then the second paragraph detailed the lessons learned in the Jewell case, especially in regards to the media.

The third paragraph touched upon why there might be sympathy in regards to the individuals involved.

So in the final analysis it seems to me you are the one confused.
