Rifle season opening this weekend, good luck hunters! I'm going early to squeeze in a couple more days of archery season myself. Be safe and again, good luck!

yep, that time again... I posted this last year, but it's still funny to me.

A man and his friend were enjoying Deer Hunting Season in East Texas near a blacktop highway. A huge buck walked by and the hunter carefully drew his gun and took careful aim.

Before he could release the shot, his friend pointed at a funeral procession passing on the road below their stand.

The hunter slowly let off the pressure on his gun, took off his hat, bowed his head and closed his eyes in prayer.

His friend was amazed. "Wow, that is the most thoughtful and touching thing I have ever seen. You are the kindest man I have ever known."

The hunter shrugged. "Yeah, well, we were married for 35 years."

I'm going to pass on deer season this year... but ducks, they better sleep with one eye open!

Time to patch up the holes in these old waders... I'm sure they have one more season left in them!

I was at Thunder this past weekend and it was packed. Even though I am an avid supporter of guns, I don't support shooting Bambi. All I can say is Run Bambi Run!

@blueyes:

pffffttttt. do you know what would happen if hunters didn't take deer on a yearly basis?

Well we needed a place to shoot our shotgun. Been there twice. It's definitely interesting.

@blueyes:

What kind of shooting do you do with your shotgun? If it's clays, then Clay Mound Sporting Center is worth a visit and not that far: Carter's is good for trap/skeet, but don't have 5-stand or Sporting Clays.

If it's 3-gun, Thunder is probably OK... just because of proximity. I had some issues with the owner and his pricing/fees. His range, so he can do as he pleases...

I shoot at a gun club in Crosby... we have pistol bays, rifle (200, 400 and 600 yds) and a shotgun area... just a couple of $100's per year, and since I shoot at least once a week it's worth every dime for me.

The word in the shooting forums is the owner of Thunder Gun range ran off some major gun groups including the youth shooting class and cowboy action shooting. He goes around in his golf cart accusing people of stealing brass when only they are picking up their own brass. I one time posted a review of this range in three different gun forums and in all three the feedbacks from other shooters were also negative. I also have personal issues with the owner which I cannot mention in a public forum but I will say in pm if inquiring minds want to know.
