Once again I pre purchased tickets to an Humble event run or promoted by Mike Kelly.
For all who had no clue this was supposed to happen tomorrow or who bought tickets, or planned on going, the event has been canceled. I found out on Canned Heat 's website/ facebook page.
I called the Humble Civic Center. I called Mike Kelly.

As per the band...
they canceled the San Antonio show and the Humble show because the Humble promoter never sent the deposit required. ( should have been sent as they spoke to secure date)

as per the Civic Center....
They are only providing the space. And the whole horse and pony show is canceled. Also asked why it was never on their calendar? Don't know was the response.

As per Mike Kelly. ...
The phone rings three times and hangs up. Not even a voice mail.

I have tried on several occasions to participate in a Humble Trade days, the Farmers Market, and other Town Center events all to disappointment. Either Mike is completely aloof and disengaged or not interested. He promotes and advertises nothing that is happening out and about.

Ok now that tomorrow is off :-(
Maybe a road trip to a new place.

Thanks to ADC and all the great places on the camping post, there will be no shortage on where to go.
Time to plan and pack a picnic. The weather is fine for a nature day trip.
So thanks everyone for saving my day.

I just want to point out that the Farmers Market is not run by Mike Kelly but by Lake Houston Chamber of Commerce. If you have had any difficulty with that send an e-mail to [email protected] and we will deal with it. Other events run by TCPA are Mardi Gras, July 4th, Christmas in the Park and the two car shows. Sometimes there is confusion as our event coordinator is Mike Ibanez,

@tonyaust:

Yes I do stand corrected. I remember Mike Ibanez. I tried to talk with him. I believe his response was maybe it's not the event for you.

lol excuse me.

As an artist I create my art and always special pieces for special/ yearly events.
After several attempts it became to daunting.
I don't like someone that's never seen my art to assume what I have or who may like it.
I thought I was buying a space as a vendor not paying for an opinion.
Just my experience with the man.

The Farmers Market is controlled by State regulations so that's why you couldn't participate. However I am looking at a vendor market in the Park on the same day as the market. I hope to get it going first Thursday in November but will get back to you.

@tonyaust:

I make very pretty plant hangers and gardens. Again assuming it's not garden related, yet soy candles are allowed.
That would be great and I am also looking for a venue to bring a real monthly market and community meet up place. Including looking into buying the land.

I have run many art fairs etc. And I have learned some important things, ya gotta advertise and ya have to appeal to everyone. You also need local sponsors and the support of the community. And you have to give back to that community.

I would have to bow out this November as the next day is my dh surgery.
I am also not ready to jump on in to an unadvertised event. Your talking two weeks. Not a flyer or poster.
I like to start laying things out a month or even more in advance with new exciting updates.
I will however attend and see how things flow. With all new ventures there will be oopsies, we all have them. I just won't be investing in vendor space and displays if once again the event turns out to be a vendor meet up and mingle. Most my days are 18 to 20 hours. Any chance I get to mingle I usually run to the forest with family.
