Just a friendly (or unfriendly) reminder that turning onto WLHP to go Northbound on WLHP is

NO LONGER

a double turn.

With the Bridges remodel of the intersection this is currently a SINGLE turn lane only.

I know, I know. It is hard to get used to change but I'm pretty sure I just gave a guy a heart attack as he didn't have room to the right of me. He hit the curb pretty bad and was somehow mad at me. Sorry bud, I was in the turn lane and you were not. Deal with it.

@B12Fan:

THANK YOU! I have almost put several people into the curb. They do need to put up better signage though.

Same thing with the light at WLHP and 1960. You cannot turn left onto 1960 from two lanes. You never could, but it seems some people believe that you can.

Early in the summer if I remember correctly.

I must be thinking of another intersection..... aren't there three lanes there with only two ways to go?

@BusyMommy:

They have opened the neighborhood straight across from that -- Bridges on Lake Houston. Now the left lane turns left, middle lane goes straight into the neighborhood and right lane turns right.

Right lane can also go straight. It is not a dedicated right turn lane.

So once The Bridges fills out many people going home there will block those that want to turn right to go South.

In general, I see a lot of people turning left from middle lanes of travel when it is not a marked turn or optional lane, at various intersections.

@Happyasalark:

People are making it into a double turn at WLHP & 1960 because the lights aren't sync and the left lane backs up so when they see the light to turn left turns green; they will move out of the left lane speed up and turn left which is going to cause an accident when someone smacks them who's turning left and want to go into Exxon....

Exactly! That has almost happened to me. (I'm turning into Exxon and someone turns from the second lane and almost hits me.) Very frustrating. I try to avoid that intersection as much as I can.

@B12Fan: Wait, what? When did this happen? I go that way every day! I always use the middle lane to turn left. I guess not anymore! Where are the signs? Why didn't the county put up any signs to warn us?

There are no signs that have been put up but they have removed the painted turn arrow on the pavement.

Just a thought - even though there may be only one turn lane if you know the guy in the middle lane MIGHT turn left, is there anything gained by running him into the curb or causing an near-collision.

is there anything at that intersection specifying the middle lane as a straight only lane? I haven't checked as I rarely turn left from will clayton.

@redneck roy: I just used it today and got in the left turn lane. There is nothing to indicate there is just one turn lane now. They did remove the turn lane info on the road for the middle road. The person next to me, in the middle lane, turned left. I slowed down, because I did not want to get hit.

I never would have noticed they removed the turn arrow in the middle lane. So THANK YOU OP, @B12Fan! I go that way every day.
