Dallas hospital is holding a patient in "strict isolation" as that person is evaluated for possible exposure to the deadly Ebola virus.

In a statement issued Tuesday night, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas said the patient was admitted based on symptoms and "recent travel history."

Any more negative comments regarding the US involvement in trying to contain this disease in Africa?

If you travel to these countries now, I believe you should be checked before allowed reentry into the country.....

@macdaddy:

I agree. I wonder how long the virus has to incubate in the human body before it shows up on a test. The test seems to take a while, not like an instant flu swab.

Scary for sure!

What if it's just a false flag to garner more support? The gov't is always doing some really f'd up COG exercises.

They are saying the person in Dallas was not a healthcare worker in Liberia. Is it safe to assume he picked it up in the general population? Very scarey!

Damn. We are going to Texas OU weekend. And the fair. My stomach is turning. I know it's pretty slim chances. But this is scary. Especially since he was sent home. That means whoever cared for him are suspect as are those staying with him and those they were around. He was sick for 4 days before isolated.

@Lace:

You have to have direct contact with the infected (i.e. bodily fluids, secretions, etc.), but it can also be transmitted through fabrics (clothing, bedding, towels, shoes) contaminated with said fluids for a period of time. Just don't touch anyone! Emoticon

I understand, though...I have several friends panicking in Dallas. I'd be on high alert, too (but I'm a germophobe). Emoticon Go enjoy your weekend and remember what a HUGELY slim chance of any reason to worry exists!

Yea. I know. I keep telling myself that. But then you see those workers wearing those hazmat suits. And he's in isolation. So you know it's not Impossible to spread.
