So I am sure everyone heard about this dumb reporter who quit her job as a TV news anchor to go fight the good fight of legalizing weed. Of course most people who want to legalize it talk about prohibition back in the 20's. Here is the challenge in my opinion. No one really counts the cost of legalizing. The cost of legalizing alcohol is almost 15,000 lives per year since 2000. I know, I know some people are responsible drinkers and that's all good. My wife drinks but only when I am around to drive for her. Here is the challenge. Remember back in school if one or two kids were acting up the whole class would miss recess? That's the same thing here. Not everyone is responsible enough to drink. Not everyone is going to call a cab or have someone take their keys from them. What's the result? Someone else pays with their life the cost of legalizing alcohol. Now here we are at another crossroads where we have people wanting to legalize a drug that has been proven to cause sensory distortion, cause panic, cause anxiety, cause poor condition of movement, and lowered reaction time. Imagine that if you will behind the wheel of a car. Now add all those extra drivers to the road. You can bet money that the 15,000 in lives that are paid each year for legalizing alcohol is going to go up. It is too bad that we don't value 15,000 people's lives (each year) enough to put a stop to this madness. We are like children who can't see past our own selfish wants and desires. I am going to throw a tantrum if I don't get what I want. We can't simply be told that the fire is hot, we have to experience the burn to really get a grasp that touching fire may not be a good idea after all. Just because we can does not mean we should. If anyone has a reason/point in why we should legalize I would love to hear it and no I am not talking about "it is my right", right does not make it right.

What about the thousands of lives lost due to the drug wars? Or how about the hundreds of thousands of Americans unable to get a job, a credit card or even an apartment to rent because of the lasting stigma of a criminal record for carrying an ounce of marijuana?

What about the domestic costs? Almost one in five inmates in state prisons and half of those in federal prisons are serving time for drug offenses. In 2010, 1.64 million people were arrested for drug violations. Four out of five arrests were for possession. Nearly half were for possession of often-tiny amounts of marijuana.

A study by analysts at the RAND Corporation, a California research organization, suggested that if marijuana were legalized in California and the drug spilled from there to other states, Mexican drug cartels would lose about a fifth of their annual income of some $6.5 billion from illegal exports to the United States.

Love the idea of the tax dollars to be collected from the sale of weed and the decrease in money going to illegal drug trade.

In looking at ancestral church records, found that Mrs S was kicked out of her church in an isolated area in the rural South in 1812 due to drunkenness. Corn? Potatoes?
