I have an English bulldog currently. He is adorable and once we got him on the right food, never farts. lol.
But super high maintenance as LG mentions.
You will have to
1. Wipe his butt daily, yes with wipies like a baby
2. Clean the folds in his face and between his toes every other day, again like a baby
3. Watch his weight like a hawk. They gobble food without chewing or breathing and will eat themselves to death if you allow. You will have to measure his food and feed him twice a day and make sure he gets excercise.
4. They are very prone to ear problems and you need to treat right away if they start itching.
5. They cannot cool themselves and cannot be left outdoors. 5 minutes on a hot day max. Seriously, I have friends whose Bulldog pups died in 90 degree whether in 30 min.
6. They are allergic to the world and need weekly baths, daily Benedryl, and lots of scratching.
7. They shed like a BEAST! For being so short haired, they shed like crazy. We actually vacuum our dog.
8. Lots of other health problems likely with age
9. They live to about 8yo.
10. They don't breed naturally, have to be artificially inseminated and have a c section and thus are very expensive.
I would say this breed is the most unhealthy breed there is.
But they are awesome and cute and smart dogs. True people dogs, they just want attention from any humans they see.
