My kids are gonna freak when they get home from school. They are gonna hate that I'm a stay at home mom now.. YES.. I'm in the process of cleaning their room.

I'm convinced my youngest is a hoarder.. 2 trash bags of crap and I'm only 1/2 way done.

My kids are waaaaaay too spoiled!

@Palm Springs:

Lol.. I swear! I found a shoebox that had "my stuff" written on the top. I thought awe how cute. Opened it up and it was filled with nothing but crumpled up paper! Little brat!

Awww! That's the "brainstorming" box. Didn't you know that?! There might be something written in there. Mine showed me a tin recently that had torn pieces of crumpled paper. He said when he writes his stories and can't think of topics that he goes there for inspiration.

@DaycareMom: I don't know about that. As long as it's not on the news in a mugshot or on Jerry Springer I guess it would be OK. Emoticon

This reminds me about 25 years ago we got broken into and the intruders only ransacked the master bedroom, opened drawers, thrown upside down on floor, clothes dumped, bed mattress sideways, couldn't see the floor from all the mess and when the police came they were in my child no. 1's bedroom, who was about 8, looking around....I had to tell him "no, the robbers didn't touch this room, it always looks like this"...oh!

@DaycareMom: Oh good! And I agree - you'd probably get a laugh or two if you ask him when you pick him up today. Of course, you should probably put that one labeled box back and pretend you didn't notice it there. They tend to get a little touchy about their crap being thrown away or recycled. If he complains about you going through his room tell him you left the important things like the "My Stuff" box. Emoticon

I know where you're coming from, DaycareMom!
My daughter hates when I clean her room. She has everything everywhere. She has two trash cans full of trash and all kinds of shoe boxes and drawers!
I recently found her essay she wrote in the beginning of 6th grade. I saved it.
Hopefully one day she will thank me.
I've noticed that youngsters nowadays don't care so much about their rooms, bathrooms or cars. I can't stand dirty or cluttered drawers or shelves, I'm such a neat freak it'd kill me to live like that! I learned it from my mom but why didn't my daughter learn from me? All her life I was ironing, folding and hanging her clothes, I had separate drawers for undies and socks, I never laid on my sheets with my "street" clothes on. She, however, doesn't care. She can take her socks off and throw them in the drawer with clean undies, or pick up clothes from the floor and wear them again.
Are all kids like that? Am I the one with the issues?
