It's an evening event at the zoo, adults only. They have the place lit up with colorful lights like Christmas. There are restaurant booths set up all along the pathways were you get a "bite" or small serving of one of their specialties. 40 different places from high end restaurants to more casual and things like desserts and gourmet popcorn. Beer, wine, and soda are sold. The animal exhibits have special things going on. Like the cougars had a half of a goat carcass suspended by a rope for then to munch on. Zookeepers are walking around with animals to see up close. I pet a skunk! And there was a cheetah on a leash with his doggie BFF in the VIP tent. Lots more, these are just a few examples. Then at the end of the evening, there's an outdoor concert. Last year was Smashmouth and this year is Sugar Ray.
It's a fundraiser for the zoo and expensive but if you consider that you get dinner, concert, and animal experiences plus a tax write off and you helped animals...it helps.
The VIP tent offers open bar, nice seating, extra animal interactions, and food by Sambuca so might be worth the extra money. The seating makes it worth it for me because otherwise you are doing a lot of walking, standing, and eating.
