We had wood floors and carpet and pulled it all out and replaced it with ceramic tile that looks like wood. Its beautiful and pet-proof!

we did the same as troyers when we got a house with a pool. Didn't want the kids getting the wood wet or the dogs scratching it. We went with a darker tile that looks like wood and LOVE it. Very low maintenance and no fuss. Looks real and is beautiful.
Moomaw they are only slippery when wet. When my kids come in from the pool to get something, I have to throw a towel down or it is slippery but other than that... No not slippery at all.

@MooMaw - one year ago I put in flooring by Karndean. A company called Pet Floors of Houston came and put it in.

It is waterproof and accident-proof for my little one. It looks just like wood, but made from PVC pipe. I have rugs on it because my big one can slide on it, if she's not careful. Emoticon

I replaced my carpet in my living room & dining room. When they pulled up the carpet I could not believe how may spots the little one had, that I didn't know about, so I hadn't cleaned them. I was gross!

My floors are easy to clean. I bought a roomba and "clean it" every other day. I have also used a steam cleaner on it.

Everyone that sees it, thinks its real wood. It is not cheap, but I love it.

@MooMaw:
I use to have tile in my den when I had
fur babies that would hide & pee .And if they do it at night & you don't find till the next day it soaks into the grout . To which I would pour a little bleach water on the grout to try & get rid of the GOLDEN stain & smell . After they died I tore it all out & didn't get any more pets .

There is a vinyl product that comes in strips that looks like wood & gets laid 1 strip of vinyl at a time . It is not as pretty as wood but there is no upkeep & I did like it when I saw it down .I saw it when you leave the post office in Humble & you are on I guess that's 1st street headed going towards Atascosita it is on your right before you come to 1960. But there are other stores around that sell large selections for you to pick from they looked really good .We saw them downtown Houston at the home show .
