Obama has spent his entire presidency on vacation, according to conservatives who have made the criticism on of their chief complaints about the man. Each time he heads to Camp David or back home to visit family in Hawaii, they harp at his laziness and add up the cost of his secret service coverage. To hear them tell it, you’d think Obama has spent his entire term with his feet up. So how do his actual number of vacation days stack up against that of previous presidents like George W Bush for instance,As it turns out, Bush spent 367 total days on vacation, more than a full year’s worth of vacation days spread across his eight year term. In fact Bush set the record for presidential vacation days. Obama, who is more than halfway through his presidency, has thus far taken far fewer than half as many vacation days. That means unless Obama suddenly changes his pattern drastically, he’ll end up having taken only a fraction as many days off. So how is it possible that even as Obama has made a point of showing up to work far more often than his largely absentee predecessor, those who hate Obama and preferred Bush are complaining about Obama’s vacations? Simple: conservative talk show hosts know that their listeners are inherently racist whether they know it about themselves or not. So they know it’s easy to sell their listeners on the notion that Obama is a stereotypically lazy black man who doesn’t like to show up to work. The fact that vacation days were one of Bush’s biggest weaknesses, and the fact that Obama has performed far better in this area, doesn’t matter. Conservatives aren’t looking for the facts or truth; they’re merely seeking anything that’ll confirm their prejudice even if it’s an easily disproven lie that makes them look foolish. - See more at:
