I feel like I seldom meet a person that was born here & that Tx is sort of like California a melting pot . Just interested out of all us on here how many were born here ?

I'm born here and will die here by choice!

I love everything about the south my manners, morales and life style will always be a direct derivative of Texas!

Just as I raise my girls!

I love Texas but hate the heat!

My kids were born in Texas, but not me.

Was born in Ft. Lauderdale so I've always lived in the south.

Not born here, but have friends in their 60's who were both born in Houston. Strange to hear them talk about their high school years - no interstates, no loops, dove hunting where the Galleria is. etc.

I was born in Richardson, TX. My parents had 3 kids when my Dad was transferred from Pittsburgh to Dallas. I was born and at 6 months we moved to Houston. So, I am the only one of my parents 4 kids that is not a Yankee! LOL!

Born and raised in Houston. Born at St. Joseph's Hospital downtown. Moved to Austin for a couple of years, then moved back to Houston. The heat does get to be a bit much at times. Thank goodness for air conditioning!

Yes we can all say GOD BLESS YOU to Willis Carrier who was inventor of modern air conditioning July 17, 1902 !!! Then in 1931 H.H.Schultz &J.Q.Sherman invented an individual room AC that sits on a window ledge. The units became available for purchase a year later & are only enjoyed by the people least likely to work up a sweat- the wealthy .It cost between $10,000 & $50,000. That's equivalent to $120,000 to $600,000 today

Then post WW2 economic boom the AC becomes just another way to keep up with the Joneses . More than 1 million units are sold in 1953 alone Central Air was 1970's .
