I am saddened that he committed a dishonorable act and took his life.

Maybe he thought by taking himself out he would spare his family the embarrassment of his trial. When people drop into real despair sometimes their thinking becomes distorted and they can actually convince themselves being gone would be better for the family.Sad, sad situation for the family left behind. God's peace and comfort for them.

If he were to lose his job and pension, he couldn't take care of his family. but, if he were dead, his wife would get life insurance and probably his pension.

I know someone who killed himself for this exact rationale. (A close family member) You have no idea how many times we've all wished for a way to have convinced him otherwise before hand.

Most polices have a 2 year suicide exclusion. So if someone were to take there life in the first two years of the policies then only the premiums are returned to the family. After two years the full death benefit would be paid to the beneficiary.

As one with some experience in forensic accounting, it is interesting to see what little things will eventually expose cases of fraud.
