I have posted in the past regarding kid parties as it relates to cost. Now a former colleague of mine wants to throw her kid a party and he is 3!!!. I looked at her like she was a three headed dragon. She went on to say her husband has connections and perhaps a fire truck can be brought to the party. A fire truck I asked? Now I'm pondering that's a novel idea, but the CHILD WON'T REMEMBER A DARN THING.

You know from ages 2-6 I think hot dogs, burgers, and ice cream ought to do the trick. A fire truck - good grief Emoticon

It's a celebration for the family as well as the child.

Is it much different from the tens of thousands some spend on weddings?

@HumbleGirl:

Personally, I don't agree with the exorbitant cost as it relates to some weddings either. But that's just my take.

*Edit*

At least the people involved with the ceremony will remember it.

We had my sons 3 year party at Old McDonalds Farm. It was perfect for November and he still remembers it

@rocket: it's not like only 3yos would be there. Most kid parties will have older siblings, cousins, etc. Kids still talk about some of the parties I've thrown for my boys. One was a Fear Factor party - it was awesome, like the show even with cash for prizes.

Maybe kids are different now. But I can't remember anything that happened to me at age 3.

It's always what a person is willing to spend. I suppose I just take a different view when it comes to this sort of thing. BTW I'm waiting to see how the fire truck thing works out.

If you have a birthday cake and the candles catch the place on fire, call 911 and you would have fire truck, police and ambulance all show up. The child would for sure remember that party. Cost could be high but that party will be talked about for years to come.

Hey Rocket

One of my friends threw his six year old daughter birthday party at this place in Business 1960 in Humble and you get to ride the antique fire trucks with family and friends

I had a huge 1st bday party for my firstborn. At home (catered! Seriously?) with probably 60+ people. Poor baby was so underwhelmed, he slept through most of it and was only interested at cake time (then promptly went back to sleep). Emoticon

I lived, I learned. Everyone else had fun, though! Ha!

After that, didn't have big/elaborate birthday parties for the kids until around 5. That's when the fun starts! Emoticon

I've NEVER had a big party for my kids and hey, they're ok! We've always had family and at times close friends and that is what my kids remember..
