I know a few officers... they make their money off of extra jobs... directing traffic for construction projects, police escorts, security etc...

guess these officers don't work any extra jobs...

Need to get rid of the food stamp program and teach them to live within their means. Isn't this what some on here have said

Military families are on track to utilize around $100 million in food stamps in a fiscal year. Another group of "moochers" ?

They have to be paid in cash, if they desire not to report the income. I doubt if this happens to any measureable extent.

@tb505:
Ha! Lots of businesses pay in cash. I have personal experience with this. One day of security services may be several hundred dollars. Do that 1-2 times a week, you significantly change your income.

@tb505:

Absolutely, I have a brother who was a weekend warrior for ten years, served one tour of duty (in which I am greatly proud), got demoted to the bakery, now he is cashing in and hasn't worked in 12 years. The military should be a stepping stone, not a cash cow.

I wonder if the 1000's of national guard called up to protect the border can get food stamps.
