Local anglers disperse 100,000 bass into Lake Houston
With their fishing boats lining the side of the docks of Lake Houston, residents from around the community volunteered their afternoon to disperse of 100,000 hybrid Florida-strain largemouth Bass into parts of the lake.
Through a partnership between the nonprofit organization Lake Houston Sports and Recreation Foundation and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, this is the third year TPWD has brought the bass to give out to local fisherman to place in their boat’s live well and then let them go in dense parts of the lake where they can find natural cover.
The residents and representatives of TPWD met at the Texas Adaptive Aquatics location in Huffman around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24 before the storms hit the area to release the 100,000 fish into the lake.
