I realize a lot people look forward to summer. But I have to admit I don't quite understand the attraction. Here's my problem with summer especially in SE Texas - heat, humidity, flies, bees, mosquitos, more ant mounds, large crowds at amusement sites, and of course the increased threat of hurricanes due to warmer water. Personally I prefer fall and winter.

Perhaps I'm in the minority on this. Anyone else feel like I do?

Yes you are not alone. Summer means more overtime and more money for me coming from my job. I also prefer fall it is the start of the hunting seasons.

Hate the heat and everything else y'all mentioned but love that kids are home for summer. That's my main reason for loving Summer.

Water sports! Swimming, beach days (not here so much), kids out of school to hang out and do fun stuff. (Actually, move that to my #1 reason to love the summer.)

Well then, we should be able to find your house easily by about the first week of July.

I think I might enjoy summer in some places - maybe in the Michigan UP.

Sorry but summer is perfect!

I just hate the cold that much that everything on the OPs list is worth it for me.
Plus no snow down here!

I can understand the sentiment regarding having kids home over the summer. On the other hand kids now get more time off during the year than we ever did. There's the Thanksgiving break, two week break for Christmas (now called winter holidays), a week for Easter (now called spring break), teacher work days, and other assorted holidays, including national walk your dog day (just kidding).

Our kids are adults but I do have relatives that still have school-aged children. So I get it.

I despise the summer for all the reasons you mentioned.

I have two girls, 10 and 4, and me and my wife work, so them being out for summer doesn't affect me. Emoticon

I much prefer the fall.

When my kids were in school, I thought it would be a great idea for the "summer break" to happen in April, May and October.

I used to spend a large chunk of my summer doing this:

Now, no more; though I will be going back to do a part of the Wonderland Trail around Mt. Rainier for several days. The break from the heat and humidity will be very much welcomed by my body.

Beautiful! I'd like to be there right now.
