"Maybe when we go into war, we should be thinking about its consequences and its ramifications," Pelosi said while discussing the scandal. "You would think that would be a given, but maybe it wasn't. And so, we go in a war in Afghanistan, leave Afghanistan for Iraq with unfinished business in Afghanistan. Ten years later, we have all of these additional veterans. In the past five years, two million more veterans needing benefits from the VA. That's a huge, huge increase."

-Pelosi (excerpt from article cited)

Seems to me that she has a very valid point...Any decent "exit strategy" would have considered these things in advance...If you aren't allocating resources for the return of the soldiers in your plans, what does that tell you?

The soldiers weren't well cared for even during war. The supply lines didn't get food etc to the front line for the first month of the war in Iraq. The soldiers were in constant fear of chemical warfare and had to live in the head to toe safety gear (and pee and poop in and never get showers) for days on end.

I sent my brother tons of wipies and stuff...he received like 20 packages on the day he left. He handed everything off to the new soldiers arriving in Kuwait.

It's all well and good to make decisions about these men from a cushy office.

The Department of Defense has provided thousands of top-of-the-line protective vests to coalition forces on the ground while some U.S. troops in Iraq have been asked to take their chances with inferior flak jackets, sources told Foxnews.com.
