The VA mess has been continuous for as long as I can remember. Whether the problem is inadequate funding; or lack of political force. I don't think a change in administrations will fix the problem; as much of the problem is housed in congress.Personally, I wonder if the VA medical system shouldn't be abolished and treatment referred to civilian facilities. although the loss of expertise with medical issues commonly isolated to military personnel; I think the loss would be offset by the improved overall care/treatment.

I am sure Obamacare will run much smoother...because I am sure there will be more qualified and caring governmental oversight and regulation. There is no way they will treat your mother or you child with such disdain...right?

We are currently dealing with t he VA and by using this benefit, may cost my dad his life. Two freaking months to come up with the diagnosis. I hate them...we have headaches since 1990sMac there are some improvements that were done, however it is too much to tackle. Close it down and let these vets go anywhere.

The VA and mostly all veteran benefits suck a&$. They have failed my family time and again.Yet we will spend money sending our kids off to meaningless wars...but not to fix their broken minds, hearts, and bodies.

@macdaddy: As Roy indicated, you are talking about something that has been systemic for DECADES over both Republican and Democratic administrations. Neither LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, George HW Bush, Clinton, George W Bush and now Obama, just to name a few, have managed to tame the beast that is supposed to adhere to the needs of veterans both mentally and physically.So I think your assessment of the situation is unfair, which is normal for you regarding anything to do with Obama. If the solution was that easy someone would have come up with it long ago.

ultra libs - ha - thats a hoot.by the way - re the comment about the guy being forced out who could retire in three months - you do realize that any military officer who would have the experience / seniority to be placed in the position would also have the tenure to be eligible for retirement; but I'm sure it makes for good soundbites for the rhetoric. I would like to see criminal prosecution; but this would be independent of the Obama admin.realistically this should be recognized for what it is; a symptom of a huge budget problem. I don't believe for an instant that anyone WANTS to provide such horrific care; but our congressmen won't provide funding - with preferences going too pork projects & welfare. DEMS and REPUBS are equally to blame for this.
