Have they been doing that the past few years? For anyone who may have experience with past years, how did that work out with them being scheduled so close together?

Kingwood 9:00
Kingwood Park 12:30
Summer Creek 3:00
HHS 5:30
AHS 8:00

Seems like it might be a cluster to get everyone in & out for those schools in the middle of the lineup. I've got SC at 3:00.

Yes they have been doing this a while. They will give you instructions on what time to be there and what entrance to go in. Everyone will go in one entrance, and then everyone will exit a different door. You feel like a herd of cattle. Not much time to hang around and take pictures inside--best to do that outside. In and out. In and out.

Are you then standing in long lines waiting to enter the facility? I am wondering about taking an elderly person in a wheelchair. Not sure how well I could work it out for her so I'm trying to find out all I can to see if it it will be possible or not. She is not in good health and on oxygen so I have to plan for every detail.

Appreciate the help.

I'm going at 8 pm...late but at least getting out won't be so bad.

I don't think we are taking my mom who is in a wheelchair. She has dementia and it might be overwhelming for her to be in an auditorium for that long. Besides her bedtime is before 9.

Yes you are standing in a large crowd of people waiting to get in. It will be very hot at 3:00. I would suggest someone waiting in the car with the elderly person and let the rest of your group go in and get seats. You can wait until about 2:45 and then take the person in the wheelchair in. I remember we had to stand out there for about 30 minutes before the opened the doors and it was very hot. Good luck.

There are elevators for those in wheelchairs. My daughter graduated in 2010 at Reliant. there were only 4 HS back then. I didn't think it was that bad. Son graduates at 8pm next Saturday then they have to rush home to change close then back to AHS to get on buses to go to Project Graduation at Main Event.

This is something that has been happening for years. Why is it now a supprise to anyone? I could maybe understad if the child was not expected to ever graduate, but what was expected? Please be warned... collages and universities have something very similar.

Texan GMC is likely live streaming all of them. Stay home to watch, save energy for the after party.

@JakeBob:

My kids graduated years ago when we used the stadium here in town. Since then I've not had a reason to attend high school graduation services for random kids just to test the waters on how it's being done these days - thus the questions. This grandchild graduating also happens to be the first great-grand graduating and his great grandmother (who has never missed one yet) wants badly to attend.

She is being treated for a variety of things not the least of which is Parkinsons in the advanced stages and at this point cannot walk more than a few paces and is on oxygen. I need to know as much as possible before I undertake anything that would put her health at risk.

Not sure why the flippant tone, but excuse the heck out of me for daring to crawl out from under my rock and ask my neighbors for help. Didn't realize it was going to be streamed and that was helpful information that may well save the day. That could very well provide the best means for her to "share" his day without over-taxing her health.

I thought it was a snotty response, too. Didn't really deserve your thoughtful and intelligent reply, imo. Emoticon

I'm kind of in the same boat...attending the ceremonies with a large group of friends/families, one of whom is an elderly attendant with walking issues. Going to call Reliant in the morning to find out our best route. I'm clueless, so hoping to get some answers. I will let you know what I find out, lana!

@JakeBob ... we are obviously all not as all-knowing as you are. Get a grip.

I do know they have a drop off area right by the entrance for those with trouble walking long distances.
We learned this last year only after one of our family members with knee issues about laid herself out walking from where we parked up to the stands where we sat. You can drive your car through a coned off area, drop them off, then go park. Hope that helps.

I'm kind of grateful we won't have to deal with the heat of the day this year.
