There may have been a post already - so sorry if repeated.

Is it me or does it seem WLH is getting worse and worse in the AM heading towards the Beltway? Yesterday morning, they had one lane closed at 7:10am - during rush hour - really?

Then this morning, it took me 15 minutes to get from AMS to Lifetime. It crawled the whole way. I tried to see if they were doin construction or a combo of that and school traffic. The only thing I could see was there was a dump truck in front of me in my lane and an 18 wheeler in the right lane that finally turned on Will Clayton. It seemed extreme that those 2 trucks was backing up that much traffic, but then again, I know they can't gun it and go.

It just seems there is ALWAYS something going on - between construction, tree cutters, power trucks, mowers,etc - something is backing up traffic.

I need to find a new commute, but I live in Kingwood so really going another way doesn't seem shorter.

Ok, sorry, my rant is over! I know, 1st world problems. I shouldn't complain too much.

I take that route too and have noticed it makes a big difference what time you leave. The worst time to travel that stretch is between 7:30-8. You are better off waiting until 8 once school begins and all that traffic has cleared off. I honestly will get to work at the same time (8:35) regardless of whether I leave at 7:30 or 8, the only difference is sitting in traffic!

On the days I drop my kids at school I have no choice but to drive in prime time but the other days I either go way early or way late.

Should be really fun as the get some start to build up the homes in The Groves and The Bridges - get used to it - it's going to get even worse for many more years!

I wish they would drop in an extra lane now before it gets really out of control.

I'm sure in their wisdom another school will be built directly on WLH.

@tflea:

These days, it depends on where the donated land is located. HISD will take it where they can get it....and I'm OK with that......keeps the operating budget pointed to more important issues than debt service for land purchases.

We continue to grow so we need the schools....and they will be built with bond money, might as well save some on donated land.

On the other hand, with interest rates at historic lows, it's a good time to load up on debt...so maybe HISD would be well served to be more strategic in site selection....as in stay away from main arteries. Probably get some help from the county to mitigate traffic....might make the county commissioner earn his annuity. **Old Joke** Harris County Commissioners only leave office under two conditions...dead or indicted.

I do hate fighting school traffic on WLHP in the afternoon. Not counting AHS, you will pass 4 school zones from BW8 to Upper Lake.

I don't understand why they let the parents block traffic on a major pkwy.

I haven't figured that one out yet either!!! what makes them think its ok to park in a main lane of traffic on WLH or Will Clayton? and then the parents don't even want to wait in that lane so they drive in the only lane moving and stop has their child darts between the stopped lane of traffic to get in the car with their parent!!! Really!!!!!

School zones? - I think those are easy enough to deal with in the AM - just leave a little earlier.

Seems like the major bottlenecks are 1960 intersection and BW-8; As long as I am out of the house by 6:15 - not much of a problem - other than light timing - not too much they can do about the BW-8 intersection.

As far as the 1960 intersection - the improvements to that were a total waste IMO - really did nothing to solve the real problems - they really should add lanes a block or two either direction - plus another turn lane.

As the communities build out - another lane on WLHP will help - but that will be years down the road.

Much better than it was 20 years ago. I won't complain - spent well over an hours getting to work this AM thank to wreck on bridge & standstill again on 225 - felt like I was back in SoCal......

We don't have it so bad here at all.....

The board of directors of all the mud districts, sent a letter to Com. Jack Cagle asking him to pave from Atascocita Rd to the Beltway down Woodland Hills (by the AVFD). No bridges, no overpasses to build, just pavement to put down, less than a mile to pave. This Woodland Hills comes out at the beltway at the curve (Lyons).

The boards was told NO, that IF a developer were to put this road, the county would accept.

It has to be developer driven.

Traffic problems have no interest in the county paying for the project.

We all need to call Cagle's office and express our displeasure with the Comm.

Phone number 713-755-6444 to Cagle's office.

We need to call, NOW

Looking at a map, this makes a lot of sense. I guess the county commissioners are to busy trying to figure a way to convince us not to tear down the Astrodome.

Doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of impetus here to charge sufficient mitigation fees from the developers or have them improve the infrastructure, i.e., road expansion as a part of building these new developments. Everyone knows long before what the projected family number dwelling build out is going to be and should not be that hard for a few smart civil/traffic engineers to forecast traffic volumes.

It starts early as all of the construction traffic hits the existing roadways once the first tree is cut down, all the way until the houses are built out, at which point you now start having resident traffic from those moving into the new homes. Then add on several more years of resident complaint, traffic studies, etc., until sufficient funding is found, by which time the developers are long gone and out of the picture.

@shamrockag03:

Most of us that lived here before ES was built will remember when Will Clayton ended at Timber Forest....well, since they opened up ES to Will Clayton, my commute down WC in the morning and afternoon has sucked.

I really wish it was still blocked.
