So we're thinking about putting DD in one of these daycares for the summer. Either Kids Playce on Will Clayton or the new Children's Learning Adventure on Atascocita Rd. What have your experiences been with both? What do you think of the teachers? Facility? How things are ran? Prices? Are you & your child happy overall? Thanks in advance!

No experience with either, but that CLA on Atascocita Rd looks so fun. I wanna go to daycare there this summer! Emoticon

Heathur,

We were going to look at the Child's Learning Adventure, but never got around to it. We have had both our kids at Kid's Playce off and on for the last 5 years. (Off and on because we went to the East Coast for a few months, and tried in-home day-care, etc.). Our almost 3 year old daughter and almost 6 year old son are both there now (our son is in Kindergarten, but goes to the after school program). We are really happy with Kid's Playce, and our kids really enjoy it. It doesn't seem like there is a lot of turn-over with the staff, as a lot of the same people have been there since we have started taking our kids there. Same with the kids, our son has some friends there, that have been there since the beginning. As far as Price, Neither are cheap, but I think CLA is about $25 more a week.

I know Kid's Playce does field trips each week for the over the age of 5 group. This will be our son's first Summer that he gets to do this, so I know he's excited.

Also, our almost 3 year old has been going for about 4 months now, and he has changed so much - she got potty trained in only 3 days, and has learned a lot of Spanish, and her (English) vocabulary has increased ten-fold.

So, in short, we are really happy with Kid's Playce.

@Heathur:
I have used both facilities. I used Kids Playce for 4 years until shortly after Hurricane Ike. I will spare all the details but I grew to feel like we were just a number and a $ to KP. I had some issues with some of the ways they collect/save money like making parents bring their own lunches on Fridays, paying for evey service/class, and their handling of the hurricane was very disappointing. I also experienced very high teacher turnover and my son was ambivalent about the facility. That said, they are very popular with lots of people I know so this is just my personal reasoning. I think they are more than adequate.

Next we were Kids R Kids ES customers for 4 years and were happy there. Then we tried YMCA at the school - hated hated hated it! You didn't ask about them though.

I moved my 1st grader to CLA when it opened and looooooooove it. My son is disappointed when we pick him up. He is now super good at bowling, loves playing basketball and dodgeball in the indoor gym, loves all his teachers. Comes home with cool art, learned to make things like baked sweet potato fries and apple turnovers, loves the playground, foozball, tons of games, drama class, and so much more. It is amazing. Their summer program is going to be fabulous too.

My daughter is now 10 and has been at Kids Playce since she was 15 months old. We love it there. Sure, teachers have come and gone but overall it has been a great experience. I feel that their prices are reasonable and my daughter loves the field trips they take in the summer. They go skating, to the park, bowling, movies, Kemah and an Astros game (for the older kids), putt-putt, etc. twice a week and have in-house activies on the days when they don't take field trips. We are sad that this is our last summer with them since she will be going to middle school next year.

I'd suggest Weekday Learning for the summer if you don't need too many hours. I can't remember the exact schedule, but we used it for DD one summer. It was great! The teachers are awesome.

Don't know about the other two places, but Crossroads also has good program. The kids always seemed to be doing fun things.

Lifetime is great for summer camp.

I an tell you Primrose is the way to go. I was against it based on I thought it was way too expensive but it was about $15-20 more a week than Kids Playce and the curriculum and set up was much better in my opinion. The new Childrens Adventure looks cool but never went inside and I heard it was really expensive. We were going to check it out but had already enrolled at Primrose. I thought about looking into Childrens though over the Summer to compare.

I would need it all day. Our daughter goes while we are teaching all day. They go from 630 AM to 630 PM.

HG, good to know. I thought it was more than that. That's only $5 more a week than KP, but my son has made his friends there, and I feel some sort of loyalty to KP as they have always been good to us. Otherwise, I would look into switching over to CLA.
