So, any of you have any?
Have you ever regretted getting it?
What would you look for in a tattoo shop? I mean, how do you know they do good work?
Have you been to any of the shops around here?
just asking 'cuz a friend of a friend is interested... I don't have any...
@traxla:
I have three.
I've never regretted any of them, however If I had to do it over again I'd slightly adjust the placement of the one on my arm.
Don't look for a good tattoo shop, look for a quality individual artist. Visit popular shops online and search through artist portfolio's to see if they have a style you think looks great and matches with your design concept. Visiting tattoo expo's are also a great idea. If a shop doesn't have artist portfolio's available that's a huge red flag.
If you have a unique concept for your tattoo most shops require you to visit with the artist you've chosen for a consultation to draw up what you want, and a deposit for the work before you ever touch needle to skin.
EDIT: Also for all the people saying your tattoos are going to look terrible when your older that's only true if you don't take care of them. Like changing the oil or air filter on a car tattoos need to be maintained by taking care of the skin with moisturizer, sun screen etc... You also need to do occasional touch ups to color or line detail which the original artist will typically do FOR FREE! They want to see their work preserved just as much as you do!
