The optimum word in my statement is INTENTIONAL. The President statement in the WH Rose Garden regarding the incident says in part "Yesterday, four of these extraordinary Americans were killed in an attack on our diplomatic post in Benghazi. Among those killed was our Ambassador, Chris Stevens, as well as Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith....
NO ACTS OF TERROR will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done...."
________
It seems to me, as was discussed in the presidential debates, the President did acknowledge the possibility of this being a terrorist attack. That was the responsible thing for him to say at the time because the investigation into what really happened was on-going. If you recall Mitt Romney, in a strictly political move, made a statement on the incident before the President. THAT forced the Administration, prematurely in my view, to send someone before the microphones in an attempt to explain what was known at the time that could be made public.
There is the possibility we may never know the intricate details of Benghazi. Why, because there is a classified world out there that millions of Americans operate within. Those that serve in that world understand the risk involved. Depending upon their particular job or position, they also understand that should the crap hit the fan it might not only cause them their lives, but their families, let alone the general public, may never know the real story.
Such incidents regrettably happen more often than you think. And most of them do not become political fodder. To be frank the reason why this one is so prominent is because it occurred during a presidential campaign and those that dislike the President are hoping a smoking gun emerges that will lead to his possible impeachment.
